SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Ada Steakley 1902-2000 TEMPLE – Ada Cravens Steakley, the step grandmother of Jene Steakley of Snyder, died Thursday, July 13, in a Temple nursing home. Graveside service for Mrs. Steakley, 98, was set for 10 a.m. today in the Sweetwater Cemetery with the Rev. Malcolm Brown officiating. Born June 30, 1902 in Christian County, Ky., she was a graduate of Bethel College for Women. She worked as an accountant for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for more than 30 years. She married Z.C. Steakley of Sweetwater in 1956, and they moved to Temple in 1958. She was a member of the Temple First Baptist Church and the City Federation of Women’s Clubs. Survivors include two stepsons, Dan Steakley of Temple and Dr. H. J. Steakley of Colorado City as well as several other step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
