Graveside service for Mrs. Pope, 82, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Perry, Okla. Born June 3, 1918 in Perry, she attended school in Perry and married Dillard Pope on Jan. 24, 1942 in Stillwater, Okla. Mrs. Pope worked as society editor for the Snyder Daily News for some 20 years and also for newspapers in Denison and Guthrie, Okla. In Snyder, she was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and had served as president. She moved from Snyder to Lubbock in 1972. She was a Catholic. Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by a daughter, Peggy Jo Pettitt. Survivors include her husband, Dillard Pope of Lubbock; a brother, Joe Hempfling of Yuma, Ariz.; two sisters, Doris Feken of Perry and Deloris Emmons of Hobbs, N.M.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
