SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Vernie Mauldin 1911-2000 BAIRD -- Funeral service for Vernie Bell Mauldin, mother of Irene Masters of Snyder, is set for 10:30 a.m. Friday in the First Baptist Church in Baird. Burial will follow in Belle Plain Cemetery near Baird under the direction of Parker Funeral Home. The Rev. Miller Robinson, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Mrs. Mauldin, 89, died Monday, Oct. 16, in Hendrick Hospital in Abilene after a brief illness. Born June 30, 1911 in Roby, she married Eugene Mauldin on Dec. 27, 1929 in Sylvester and they recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. The Mauldins lived in the Rowden community near Baird for 60 years, in Snyder for three years and in Abilene for the last three years. Mrs. Mauldin, a homemaker and a quiltmaker, was a member of First Baptist Church in Baird and Esther Sunday School Class. While living in Snyder, she was a member of Colonial Hill Baptist Church. A seamstress, she worked for Aileen’s while living in Snyder. Survivors include her husband, Eugene Mauldin of Abilene; another daughter, Marjorie Brown of San Antonio; three sons, Carl Mauldin of Comanche, Roland Mauldin of Clyde and Don Mauldin of Cape Coral, Fla.; a brother, Lawrence Cooper of Friona;17 grandchildren, including Charlotte Clifton of Snyder; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Mrs. Mauldin’s grandsons will be pallbearers.
