SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Bill Martin 1917-2000 COLORADO CITY – Funeral service for Bill Martin, 83, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kay Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Mr. Martin, a former resident of Scurry County, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, in Mitchell County Hospital following a brief illness. Born Jan. 15, 1917 in Robert Lee, he grew up in the Dunn area and married Vergie Shoffner on Oct. 8, 1937 in Dunn. Mr. Martin worked as a warehouseman for Halliburton for 20 years before retiring. He moved to Colorado City 12 years ago and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Vergie Martin of Colorado City; a son and daughter-in-law, Buck Paul and Nancy Martin of Summerville, Ala.; a son-in-law and his wife, Dale and Leslie Geiger of Colorado City; a sister, Nettie Faye Glaspie of Marble Falls; two brothers, I.E. Martin of Snyder and Frank Martin of Lufkin; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Geiger; his parents, John W. and Kathy Gary Martin; and three brothers, Charlie Martin, Herbert Martin and Joe Martin.
