Jonnie Hartwell 

1915-2000 

LUBBOCK – Jonnie Hartwell, a former resident of Snyder, died Monday, Oct. 2, in Lubbock’s University Medical Center. 

Funeral service for Mrs. Hartwell, 85, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Sanders Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock Cemetery. 

Born Sept. 26, 1915 in Saline, La., she graduated from nursing school in Snyder and from business college in Cameron. 

A retired registered nurse, she served as a city council member and mayor pro-tem in Copperas Cove. She moved to Lubbock from Snyder in 1975. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wolfforth. 

Survivors include a daughter, Inez Snider of Ropesville; a son, Ellis Butler of Winnsfield, La.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
