Funeral service for Mr. Greer, 85, was set for 10 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church. The Revs. Jim Medley and Ferris Akins were to officiate. Burial was to follow at 3 p.m. today in East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton. Born March 13, 1915 in Barksdale, he married Lahoma Rixse on May 22, 1937 in Imperial. She died in 1973. He married Judy Perry on Nov. 10, 1979 in Rankin. Mr. Greer moved to Rankin from Imperial in 1979 and was owner of Greer Oil Company. He was a member of the State Firemen and Fire Marshall’s Association and taught for 35 years in the Texas A&M Fire Training School. A member of the Rankin First Baptist Church, he served as a deacon. He was a Mason, a member of the Rankin fire department, city council and Lions Club. He was a life member of the Imperial Fire Department and served as a director of the Upton County Fire District. Mr. Greer also was a former Buena Vista school district trustee and was a retired justice of the peace in Pecos County. Survivors include his wife, Judy Greer of Rankin; two other sons, Leldon Greer of Imperial and Sammy Heflin of St. Lawrence; four daughters, Eloma Ashwin of Crane, Laureen Terzich of Castroville, Shirley Peel of College Station and Sherie Johnson of Odessa; three sisters, Kayloma Dean, Geraldine Tucker and Eileen Coleman, all of Camp Wood; 26 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
