SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Wilma Dillard 1929-2000 Wilma Lee Dillard, both an employee and volunteer who walked the halls of Cogdell Hospital caring for patients and their families, died Friday, Oct. 20, in the same hospital following a brief illness. Mrs. Dillard, 71, served as Cogdell’s patient-relations and public relations coordinator for the past 12 years. She also was an active member of the hospital auxiliary. Funeral service for Mrs. Dillard is set for 2 p.m. Monday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Nan Swanson, minister of the First Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Miller Robinson, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Born Aug. 2, 1929 in Apache, Okla., she married Don Dillard on Nov. 29, 1952 in Wichita Falls. He died Feb. 5, 1996. Also, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wendell Moran, who was killed during World War II; and her parents, Brack and Elsie Mae Moran. A resident of Snyder since 1973, Mrs. Dillard was a longtime hospital auxiliary volunteer, serving as its president, prior to becoming a paid employee. In her role as patient-relations coordinator, Mrs. Dillard was the hospital’s chief patient advocate and trouble-shooter in the area of public relations. In 1990, she received the “Values in Action” award from the St. Joseph Health Systems. Mrs. Dillard was permanent chairman of the hospital’s employee of the month selection committee, she arranged hospital tours for youth groups, worked with the Cogdell Foundation on fundraising for room renovations and was an active member of the Blood Services Advisory Council. A member of the Martha Ann Woman’s Club, she served as a member of the Senior Center Advisory board for six years and served as a director of the Scurry County United Way. She was a member of the Ladies Golf Association of the Snyder Country Club and was club champion in 1976. Survivors include a brother, Wayne Moran of Fort Cobb, Okla.; four nieces; and three nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Cogdell Memorial Hospital Foundation or to the Community Hospice.
