J.E. Deatherage 

1903-2000 

J.E. “Emmett” Deatherage, brother of Minnie Mae Swint of Snyder, died Monday, 
July 17, at a Clyde nursing home. 

Funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Friday in the Hamby First Baptist Church with the
 Rev. Oscar Fanning officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamby Cemetery directed
 by North’s Funeral Home. 

Born in Bonham, Mr. Deatherage moved to the Hamby community in 1919.
 He married Myrtle Lee Harendt in 1928; she died in 1982. Mr. Deatherage was a 
farmer and a carpenter and was a deacon of Hamby Baptist Church. 

Other survivors include two sons, Ray Deatherage of Abilene and John Deatherage of Anson;
 two daughters, Dean Snow of Irving and Helen Stokes of Abilene; nine grandchildren; 
and 16 great-grandchildren.
