SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Richard Caldwell 1929-2000 ABILENE – Richard Gipson Caldwell, a former resident of Scurry County, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, in an Abilene hospital. Funeral service for Mr. Caldwell, 71, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Stan Allcorn will officiate. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Born Jan. 5, 1929 in Bronte, he attended school in Fluvanna. He worked in Snyder before moving to Abilene in the early 1950s where he was a transport driver for Southwest Coca Cola Bottling Co. He retired in 1992 and worked for West-Tex Industries. A U.S. Army veteran, he married Patricia Morgan on April 2, 1955 in Abilene. Mr. Caldwell was a member of the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Caldwell of Abilene; a son, Ricky Caldwell of Clyde; a daughter, Debbie Miller of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother, Wayland Caldwell of Snyder; a sister, Verna Hicks of Taylor, Mich.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
