SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Ollie Bruton 1917-2000 Ollie A. Bruton Jr., a former Snyder businessman, died Monday, July 10, in Lubbock’s Covenant Hospital. Funeral service for Mr. Bruton, 82, was set for 2 p.m. today in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Homer Anderson, minister of the 37th Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial was to follow in the Snyder Cemetery. Born Sept. 10, 1917 in Comanche, he married Luna Maude Gore on May 17, 1936 in Lubbock. Mr. Bruton moved to Snyder in 1949 and owned and operated Bruton Jewelers on the east side of the Snyder square from 1949 until his retirement in 1978. During that period, Midwest Electric Cooperative established an office in the jewelry store and the Brutons served as clerks. After their retirement from the jewelry business, Mr. and Mrs. Bruton continued as clerks for Midwest Electric, now Big Country Electric Cooperative. While in Snyder, Mr. Bruton was a member of the 37th Street Church of Christ. They moved to Lubbock eight years ago. Survivors include his wife, Luna Maude Bruton of Lubbock; a son, Gene Bruton of Dallas; a daughter, Pat Stack of Arlington; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
