SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Newt Bonner 1916-2000 ABILENE – Newt Bonner, a former resident of Snyder, died Sunday, Oct. 1, at his home in Abilene. Graveside service for Mr. Bonner, 84, was set for 2 p.m. today in the Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home. Born June 15, 1916 in Sweetwater, he married Ethel Lorene Muse Hood in Abilene on May 23, 1970. He worked for Goodyear for 11 years before retiring. He was a member of Northwest Church of Christ in Abilene. While living in Snyder, Mr. Bonner was a fireman during 1956-1964, was self-employed and also worked at Wilson Motors. Mr. Bonner was preceded in death by his first wife, Dell Bonner, and a daughter, Linda Darlene Jones. Survivors include his wife, Lorene Bonner of Abilene; a daughter, Vonda Gotschall of San Angelo; a son, Walter Hood of Longview; a brother, W.D. Bonner of Stephenville; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
