SNYDER DAILY NEWS http://www.snyderdailynews.com/Stories/index.htm Flavious Alexander 1923-2000 SPUR -- Funeral service for Flavious Lee Alexander of Spur, father of Dalvin Alexander of Snyder, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Assembly of God Church in Spur. Burial will follow in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur. The Rev. Tim Anderson, Zeb Alexander and the Rev. Bob Wright will officiate. Mr. Alexander, 76, died Sunday, July 9, at his residence. Born on Nov. 25, 1923 in Spur, he married Vera Reynolds June 7, 1947 in Spur. He lived most of his life in Dickens County and was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He was a tire salesman and repairman for O.K. Rubbe Welders and Farmers Co-op Gin in Spur for 40 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church where he was a deacon for 35 years, Sunday school superintendent 13 years, and secretary/treasurer for 12 years. He served on the Spur City Council for two years and the Spur Housing Board for four years. Mr. Alexander was the Spur Lions Club Employee of the Year in 1985. Survivors include Vera Alexander of Spur; a daughter, Gloria and Tim Anderson of Electra; one brother, Lonnie Alexander of Nixo, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Belinda Alexander of Snyder; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Zeb Alexander, Shawn Anderson, Steven Maynard, Jeff Andersen, Steve Wiseman and Jamie Hoyle.
