Earnest Taylor

Earnest Taylor, Sr [b. 1891 d. 1960] was a very wealthy man in Scurry County, he was a civic leader, served on many boards and was a banker at one time. Earnest Taylor, Sr. is buried in the Snyder Cemetery in an above ground Tomb that distinctly stands out as one of the only above ground enclosures in the Cemetery, the large marble doors have metal gates that have been added that permanently seals the vault. It is unknown who else is buried in the vault with Earnest Taylor.

Ernest Taylor also sold Insurance for United Fidelity Life Insurance, when Earnest Taylor died his estate was in excess of 100,000 dollars. He was the son of Robert M. Taylor and Dora Manry Taylor of Ira, Scurry Co., Texas


His death certificate states that he was born in Denton, Texas on October 4, 1891 to Dora Manry and Robert Taylor. He was in the U.S. Armed Forces in 1917-1918, and passed away in the Beverly Hills Sanitarium, Dallas, Texas on July 30, 1960. He was married at the time of his death, but the death certificate does not list his spouse by name.
