 Fonville Cemetery

Originally contributed by Mrs. Linda Hilderbrand, Mrs. Billie Fay Gary, the late Mrs. Mary Ann Gary, Mrs. Wilner McVeigh, Linda J. Fonville, Grodon Jordan, Mrs. Glenda Gunn, and Mrs. Marlene Tarrant.  Updated 2013 by Gova Gary, Billy Joe Williams and Suzanne Storey Sowell

Location:  Go 0.8 miles south on Hwy 147, turn on FM 705, cross Hwy 103, go to Hwy 83.  Turn left and go past Anthony Harbor, cross the Ayish Bayou.  Turn right ont he first dirt road, go about a quarter of a mile past two houses.  The cemetery is to the right, back in the woods.  According to Mrs. Hilderbrand, who has visited the cemetery, she described that it is extremely difficult to tell anyone how to get to the cemetery since there is no trail once you leave the dirt road off Hwy 83.

At the time this cemetery was originally indexed there were remains of an old wire fence with wooden carved post that enclosed a small portion of the cemetery.  The graves were not marked.  There were other known graves outside this area.  There are now markers for all persons known to be buried there.

The following are known to be buried here.
