About Us
The San Angelo Genealogical and
Historical Society is a nonprofit organization. Organized in
1973, the Society's objective is to conduct educational activities,
promote interest in genealogical and historical research, to collect and
preserve documents pertaining to the history of West Texas, and to help
build, for our area, a library of genealogical and historical data,
concentrating on the 13 Texas counties of Coke, Concho, Crockett,
Glasscock, Irion, Kimble, Menard, Reagan, Runnels, Schleicher, Sterling,
Sutton, and Tom Green.
All books, periodicals, manuscripts, microfilm and microfiche that are
donated to, or purchased by the Society, and all exchange journals are
donated to the Ralph Chase West Texas Collection, Genealogical and
Archival Sections at the University Center, Angelo State University, San
Angelo, Texas, where the material is open to the public.
Books donated to the Society for "Book Reviews", are reviewed in the
Society's semi-annual Journal, the Stalkin' Kin, and then
placed in the Ralph Chase West Texas Collection at Angelo State
University for public use.
Yearly dues are payable on the first of May each year. Single membership
is $20.00 annually. Family membership is $20.00 plus $5.00 for each
additional member in the same household. Membership includes a
subscription to the Stalkin' Kin (one per family). A late fee of $2.50
is applied to renewals if paid after August 1st.
