Red River County Genealogical Society was formed in 1986 with the goal of collecting, preserving and making available as many old county records as possible. A further goal was to promote the investigation of local genealogy and family history

Red River County is one of the oldest counties in Texas. Many early immigrants to Texas came through the area on their way to other places while others came and stayed.

Our library contains a small but respectable collection of books that cover a wide range of genealogical subjects and are housed in the Red River County Public Library.

Meetings are normally held on the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM in the Red River Chamber of Commerce Building, located on the southeast corner of the square, Clarksville, Texas.
