John Wolf, Jr.

John Wolf, Jr.

1843  •  1926

In 1856, John Wolf Jr. was 12 years old when he came from Würges, Germany to Texas with his parents John and Catherine Bermbach Wolf and five siblings. Arriving at the same time from Würges were John Wilhelm, John Hartman and Philip Goertz. They all established farms along Walnut Creek.

John Jr. married Katharina (Catherine) Meurer at Pin Oak in 1865, and purchased land near Garfield on Wolf Lane in 1866. Mitchell, his brother, along with Philip Goertz donated land to the area settlers to build the first Catholic Church. Mitchell and his wife Rebecca Hill Wolf are buried in Walnut Creek Cemetery where that first church was built.
