November 6, 1928 August 12, 2007 I met Frank J. Viktorin on November 17, 1993 when Murray Callahan brought him to a grown-up wooded place behind Sylvester Goertzs house in Rockne to look at an historical log cabin. There was no doubt in Frankies mind that he could move the four walls, in tact, to Hilbig Park. However, Frankie spent the better part of the day reinforcing the precious logs so that they would not be jarred out of place. Frank was meticulous in every detail and not only professional, but the very best man for the job. The next day, Frankie inspected the tie-downs, checking every detail again, while a crew of us watched the expert at work. As the cabin rolled smoothly around the corner at Highways 535 and 20, I remember saying a prayer of thanks that the on coming cars just stopped and watched with interest. The historical cabin built by Philip Goertz (circa 1850) found a permanent home at Hilbig Park and Frankie was very proud of his effort in preserving that valuable part of the Rockne history. He and Delores continued to be generous supporters of the Rockne Historical Association attending and donating to Fundraisers and other functions. In 1999, Frankie and Delores and three other couples began meeting once a month. We called ourselves the "Four Seasons". Frankie was an inspiration to us all. He was a gentle, polite soul with a twinkle in his eye and a big smile. He enjoyed visiting and I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. The thing I remember most about Frankie is that he never forgot to hug and kiss each of the women hello and goodbye. He never missed anyone and hugged the men as well. Frank J. Viktorin was born on November 6, 1928 in Jarrell, Texas where he attended school until he entered the University of Texas. He joined the Air Force in 1950 and served for four years. He worked in the oil business until taking over his fathers moving business in 1966. Over the next 26 years, the business developed into the most successful and reliable of its kind in Central Texas. Frankie retired in 1992 to spend more time with his devoted wife, Delores and their children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Frank entered into eternal rest on August 12, 2007 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons disease. He was 78. We are saddened to loose a good friend but happy to have been a part of his life. Written by the editor, Marian H. Nelson Frank after successfully moving the historic Goertz cabin to Hilbig Park.
