Report on Past Event
The Annual Rockne Historical Association Fund-raiser takes place the second Sunday in February and this year it fell on Valentines Day. Chocolate covered strawberries and cute teddy bears for a special Valentine were among the specialty items auctioned. At one point Mike Hilbig, auctioneer, laughingly said, “For any of you guys out there who are in the dog house, now is the time to bid.”
Silent auction tables were loaded down with an abundant assortment of interesting bargains offered to early shoppers by Joy Goertz and Clara White. The home-made items were favored and there was a mad scramble to get the last bid at closing time.
Shirley Wright, Rita Fredericks, Jean Hoffman, Robin Cowan, and Connie McDaniel served over 200 plates of spaghetti, with all the accompaniments. Extra desserts and drinks fortified the bidders throughout the afternoon. It was a happy, lively and very successful day. RHA would like to thank all the participants whether you were the highest bidder or gave support by your presence. Details of the auction will be published in March.
