Missouri Meuths Visit Rockne and Meuth Hill

Bill and Kathy Meuth and their daughter Angela spent the day, November 12, 2008, in Rockne, Texas with distant cousins, Ovon Goertz, Olivia Bartsch, Valeria Wilhelm, Marian and Charlie Nelson. Everyone enjoyed seeing Meuth Hill again and paused to envision what life was like here in the 1850’s. It was a day to remember for everyone.

Bill is the son of Ivo Meuth, the only living grandson of John Meuth who came to Texas in 1849 and left to live in Missouri. Bill took pictures and even picked up a rock to take to his father, saying, “My father will enjoy this. He is very interested in connecting family.”

Visit included a history lesson on the naming of Rockne.   Angela, Kathy and Bill look at the Meuth Reunion Album in the Museum.   Olivia Bartsch, Ovon Goertz, Angela, Kathy, Bill Meuth, Marian and Valeria Wilhelm at the Meuth Hill Cemetery.

Bill, Kathy and Angela explore the basement of the Meuth Home. Steps are still visible.   The Missouri Meuths stand at the monument to the founders of Meuth Hill. They are: Brothers Andy, Frank, Joe, Pete, George and John Meuth.   The monument stands on the hill where the Meuth home once stood.
