New Rockne Museum Progress Report

April 13, 2002
Ground breaking ceremony for the new museum building took place.

June 7 - 10, 2002
Holes were dug approximately 12 feet for piers to support foundation and concrete was poured.

June 14, 2002
Water lines under road and meter were installed. (A generous donor paid for this expensive project).

June 24, 2002
Rebar frames were put in place in long lateral lines and braced underneath on the piers.

June 27, 2002
The concrete slab was poured at 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 27th. Timmy Tucker, Bernard Probst and crew had it all smoothed by 7:00 am. Timmy wanted to make sure the concrete would not dry too quickly and Bernard made sure it had water on it all the time. The rains helped allowing plenty "cure" time. Timmy allowed at least three weeks before any work is done on the slab.

July 30, 2002
Work began on the cedar porch.

1st Week In August, 2002
Framing began.

August 26, 2002
Plyboard put all around the building.

August 30, 2002
Finished roof today. Kevin Goertz, Marshall Tucker, Ronnie Tucker and Lester Bartsch working hard to finish before the bazaar.

September 25, 2002
The exterior of the Museum is finished and ready for paint and/or stain. The Board of Directors met and approved the colors to be used.

May 10, 2003
The new Rockne Museum is completed and all of the precious artifacts from the Museum Room were transferred to the new Rockne Museum in Hilbig Park on Saturday morning May 10th.

June 14, 2003
Dedication and open house. A dream becomes a reality!
