"On July 1, 1912, a branch of the Bank of Refugio was opened in Woodsboro with Clay Murphy of Refugio as cashier. He remained in this position until September 25 of the same year, when he resigned and was succeeded by H. Cummins. the latter had been depot agent for the three previous years. "It continued as a branch of the Refugio bank until July 1, 1919, when it was reorganized into a national bank. "The new bank held its first board of directors meeting on July 5, with the following directors present: J.M. O'Brien, J.E. Fox, Branch Smith, C.H. Heard and H. Cummins. "At this meeting the following officers were elected: Branch Smith, president; F.B. Rooke, vice president; and H. Cummins, cashier. Mr. Smith served for one year and was succeeded by Dr. W.M. Dodson, who served as president for 13 years, when the press of his own practice forced him to resign. In January of this year, A.D. Rooke was elected president and occupies the office now...."
