Above is a picture of the Refugio High School football team for 1934.  The team has a wonderful record during their first year of conference football.

They are:  Bottom row, left to right: Justin Linney, guard; Richmond Carpenter, halfback; Bob Mattews, guard; Captain Buck Weston, quarter back; Horace Roell, center; Sanford Newsom, quarter back, and Carl O'Brien, halfback.

Middle row, left to right:  Willard Beck, halfback; Jesse Lowrie, tackle; Thomas Heard, end; Bob Skeen, center; Billy Jenkins, end; Morris Wilson, tackle; Jim Bailey, tackle; Steve Wilson, halfback; and J.C. Millican, end.

Top row, right to left:  R.L. Moore, principal of the high school; A.L. Smith, Coach, and John L. Cooke, superintendent.

Two regulars, Will Tom Mills and John Dickens, do not appear in the picture.
