Chapter Activities




Our Silent Auction was initiated by Anna Lee during her term as chapter
president in 2007-2009, and it has become our annual fund raising event.

as National Organizing Secretary General at the National
Colonial Dames XVIIC Convention in Washington, D. C.

2013 Texas Dames State Conference

Members attending the 75th State Conference in Roundrock were
delighted to meet National President General Jan Lockard who is
pictured 2nd from the left on the front row.

Chapter member Patsy Bass set up a lovely display of her artisan
works on the Heraldry table. We are very proud of Patsy and her
dedication to this art form.

Living in Colonial Times

Chapter member Anna Lee joined her son Britton, husband Steve,
and Rev. Don Majors of the Captain William Barron Chapter Sons
of the American Revolution members to present a "Patriotic
Flags and Music" program celebrating President's Day.

Special Education Activities Chairman Annette Maddox, Tommie Mouser,
 chapter president, Reverend Don Majors, Captain William Barron Chapter,
Sons of the American Revolution, and Billye Nolan, chapter historian,
in their formal colonial attire, presented a program to 120 home-schooled
students and their mothers on all aspects of "Colonial Life."

Preserving Our Colonial Heritage

Richard Borden Dames set up their Library Exhibit on "Living
In Colonial Times" celebrating Colonial Heritage Month in the
University of Texas at Tyler Muntz Library. (left to right) Chapter Vice

Goodman House/Museum Tour and Program

Chapter members enjoyed a tour, fellowship, and a program

State Heraldry Chairman Mollie London conducted a heraldry
workshop for Richard Borden and attended our May meeting to present
Earline Andrews a certificate for her work on heraldry. (left to right)

Anna Lee presented a program on "Notorious Women
of the Colonies," excerpts taken from actual court trials.

Chapter member Earline Andrews has reason to celebrate.
Not only is she 101 years young, she has traced her lineage
back to Clovis. Earline is shown with chapter member
Madeline Alworth  admiring her heraldry certificate.

In August we gathered for a Colonial Dames heraldry workshop.

Celebrating Native American Heritage, member Paula Warren
(3rd from left), in her authentic Native American elk skin regalia,
presented a program on "The True Story of Pocahontas" and
 shared the importance of the eagle to Native Americans.

 

Richard Borden Chapter members celebrated "A Colonial Christmas
Feast" with members in period costumes. Left to right are Billye Nolan,

Promoting Education

Anna Lee, essay contest chairman, presents a check and certificate
to the winner of the 2012 Colonial Heritage Essay Contest, Lauren
Micah Lang. The theme of the contest was "Reverend John Lathrop,
Prominent Colonial Minister." The Colonial Heritage Essay Contest
is open to all Tyler area middle school students, 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.

We Celebrate Being Dames and Friends

Leta Porter, Ross Krape, and Shelley R. Rardin are proud to be Dames
and members of Richard Borden Chapter.

Active Charter Members were honored with certificates and roses at the
celebration of the Twentieth anniversary of the Organization of the
Richard Borden Chapter. These Charter Members explained how the
Chapter became organized and chartered. (left to right) Billye Nolan,
Patsy Bass, Earline Andrews, and Paula Warren. Earline Andrews
102nd birthday was celebrated at the meeting.
