PEDEN, SHOEMAKER posted by Sue
Peden Miller on Wednesday, September 11, 1996
I am seeking information about the PEDEN family who lived in Wood and Rains
counties in Texas. Specifically, John R. (or P.) Peden and his wife, Elizabeth
Malinda Peden (1818-1879). She is buried in the Sharon Cemetery but we don't
have any further information about Robert. Their children were Mary J., William
Miller, Roseanna C., Martha Ann, Robert Arrington (my ggrandfather), Cynthia
Carrie, and Nancy L. I believe that Elizabeth Malinda's maiden name may have
been SHOEMAKER.

I am researching the CONGER, BENTON, STEVENSON, LLOYD, CROMER, FLOURNOY, HAINES
families from Wood County. I am also particularly interested in any Civil War
Service records of John Benton, Jr., John Benton, Sr., Thomas E. Conger, Samuel
Martin Flournoy, T.F. Benton, William Alexander Conger, and Frank Benton. I
am particulary seeking information on a reported Confederate monument that once
rested over the grave of John Benton at Rock Hill Cemetary. He is believed to
have been a member of the 2nd Texas Partisan Rangers. Any record of the muster
from Wood County of that regiment is sought too. I have compiled a great deal
of data on the previously mentioned surnames in Wood from the Society files
and other research and will share same with anyone in need..
