Martin Lodal came to Texas and Palo Pinto County in 1881 from his native Denmark and settled at Coalville, near Gordon.  He was a member of the Presbyterian faith and has a son, M. G. Lodal, who is still living in the county.

He worked in the coal mines on arriving here and died at Gordon December 26, 1942
