Hillary Johnson Whatley, Jr., born August 18, 1852 in East Point, Georgia, came to Texas in 1866 and married after arriving here, Irene Yates, daughter of Mrs. J. M. Bazier.  They married in 1882 in Palo Pinto County.  Hillary, Jr., was the son of Hillary and Mary Pollard Whatley.  Children of the couple, (both of whom were buried in the Whatley cemetery, 5 miles west of Mineral Wells) are: Burl, Sam, Hillary J. Jr., Thomas O., A. K. and two daughters Lula and Sallie Whatley.

Hillary Whatley III, married May Parker and their children are Ethel who married Dr. Mayfield; Irene, who married, W. E. Allen; Russell Aubrey who married Anna Marsh and Gordon, who never married.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell A Whatley are the parents of two children, Russell A., Jr., who married Fannie Foreman Ernst; and Anne Whatley, who married John Ritchie.  Grandchildren of the Whatleys are Russell Whatley III, and Emma Anne and Richard Preston Ritchie.
