H. H. Porter Served County As Tax Collector


Henry Hamilton Porter came to Texas from North Carolina in 1851 and settled in the southeast part of Palo Pinto, in what is known as Porter Prairie.

H. H. Porter, his son was born in Benbrook and came to this county in 1890 with his wife, Louea Hollyfield Porter, whom he married in Weatherford, October 3, 1888.  They settled in Palo Pinto where Mr. Porter served as Tax Assessor.  He was a farmer and is now retired.  His wife died in 1951 and is buried in Fort Worth.

Their children are Royal H., Myrtle Porter Howell and Horace H. Porter, of Palo Pinto; Larry H. Porter and Chandler D. Porter of Weatherford and Peari Porter Inman of Mineral Wells.
