CENTENNIAL CELEBRATIONS OVER COUNTY CREATES
MUCH INTEREST AND COLOR DURING CELEBRATION

It's a "do-si-do and away she goes" for
Gordonites at the big street dance held
in connection with the Centennial Celebration

Although the celebration of this week of the centennial is centered in Mineral Wells and Palo Pinto, other celebrations have been held over the county before this week.

Gordon Centennial Party Record Attendance With Good Parade-Party

Gordon's celebration was set for the very day of the county's birthday, April 27, and it drew a good crowd from home people and from over the county.

A parade of old-time vehicles, donkeys, horsemen, Indians and any and everything that goes to make an interesting centennial parade.  Dresses of the past hundred years mingled with the new and bearded men were the rule, not the exception.  Yards and yards of ruffling trimmed the pretty and authentic costumes of the women and some had children, dressed in the same manner as their mothers or fathers with them.  Newly painted signs proclaimed the wares used and sold in early days and shops, for the day of the celebration, were changed to represent shops of many years ago.

Pictures in shop windows gave a view of earlier days and the people that lived them.

A chuck wagon dinner was served at the Legion Hall and music was furnished throughout the celebration by Vern Nutall and his band, with Linda Gill as singer.
