Francis Watson Arrive In County When 7 Years Old

Francis Marion Watson, a native of Vivian, Louisiana, was seven years old when his parents moved to what is now Parker County, the year before the county was organized.  They settled 9 miles east of Weatherford and engaged in ranching on the open range, as all others did.  When he was grown, he returned to Louisiana and married Ruth Smith and they came back to Texas.  They moved to this county in 1898 and were members of the Methodist Church.  Mr. Watson died in 1924.

Several grandchildren of the couple are now residents of Palo Pinto County.  They are Taylor, Bill and Ross Watson, and Mrs. Raymond Houston, all of Palo Pinto; Glen Watson of Canada; Bill Watson Cone of San Antonio; Marion and F. M. Watson of Odessa and a daughter Clara Watson of Palo Pinto.
