Bradford Fitzgerald Moved To Texas From Tennessee

Bradford Fitzgerald and his wife, Elizabeth Orme Fitzgerald, came from Hunt County, Tennessee, to Texas in 1882 and landed in Palo Pinto County.  By 1885 they had settled in the community which was to be known later as the Brad community in honor of Mr. Fitzgerald.  When the Post Office was established years later, that was the name given to it and the name was given to the communities formerly known as the Beulah and Cedar Springs communities.  They were Methodists and leaders in church affairs of the community for many years.  More than a mile of rock fence on the place is a landmark which remains.

A daughter of the couple, Mrs. Abbie Keegan, now lives at the place they settled when they came here.  Other children are Emmett and Jes Fitzgerald, and another daughter, Mrs. Lou Hamilton.  A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren are scattered over the various states.
