Mildred Alice Hendricks, 88, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Schatte, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon.

Millie was born Sept. 12, 1920, to Peyton D. and Hazel Gibson Moncrief. She married Louie E. Hendricks in 1944, in Stuttgart, Ark. She attended the University of Central Arkansas and West Texas State University. At the end of World War II, they moved to El Paso and to Amarillo in 1959. She was a schoolteacher in both Arkansas and El Paso. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie; a son, L. Peyton; a sister, Mary Ann Reed; and her parents.

Survivors include a son, Robert L. Hendricks, chaplain, and wife Becky of San Antonio; two grandsons, Andrew Peyton Hendricks and Timothy Chad Hendricks, both of San Antonio; a niece, Hazel Smith of Houston; and a nephew, retired Marine Corps Lt. Col. Alfred Reed.
