Bobbie Eubanks Steakley Colorado City - Mrs. Bobbie Eubanks Steakley, age 79, of Colorado City, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Colorado City. Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Municipal Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Bobbie was born July 14, 1927, in Adamsville to Carl and Faye Shurtleff Eubanks. She was raised in and around Lampassas and Coryell County area. She attended Baylor University shortly after World War II where she met and married her husband, Dr. H. Jene Steakley on December 5, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2005. In 1950, she and her husband moved to Colorado City, where they lived the rest of their lives. It was there she raised her three sons. Bobbie was a ray of sunshine to each and every person she met. She was bright, vivacious and fun. She enjoyed people and never met a stranger. She was very active in her community. She was a dedicated and loyal member of her church, First Baptist Church of Colorado City. There she taught Sunday school for many years, sang in the choir and was active in virtually every church activity. She was also a founding member of the Colorado City Playhouse and starred in many of its productions. Bobbie was a voracious reader. She was also in great demand to give book reviews and gave them throughout the West Texas area. She also enjoyed her membership in the Garden Club. For many years she was also an active and accomplished bridge player. More than anything else, however, she was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She was truly, the heart and soul of the family. She is survived by her two sisters: Mary Voss of Gatesville and Billie Short of Wimberley; her three sons, Harry Jene Steakley, Jr. and wife, Elaine, of Snyder, Zollie Carl Steakley and wife Jan, of Sweetwater and Dan Stephen Steakley and wife, Patricia, of Austin; grandchildren Amy Elizabeth Steakley Boyer and husband, Brad of Frindswood, Maefair Michelle Steakley Keese and husband, Chris, of San Antonio, Joseph Jene Steakley of Chicago, Ill., Zollie Carlton Steakley and wife, Jessica and Scarlett Ruth Steakley, all of Waco, Dan Stephen Steakley, Jr. and wife, Alyson, of Austin, William Miller Steakley and fiance, Karen of Austins and Susan Ashley Steakley Kim and husband, Benedict, of Austin; and her four great-grandchildren: Tyson Keese, Savanna Keese, Anna Steakley and Margaret Steakley. She is also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Martha Faye McCoy. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
