“Sir” John Hogue

Funeral services for “Sir” John Hogue, 77, of Andrews were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, in the First Christian Church in Andrews with the Rev. Bob Zap, the Rev. Don Swindle and Larry Mathis officiating.

Burial followed in the Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.

Mr. Hogue died Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, in his residence.


Gladys Eviligian Murray

Gladys Eviligian Murray died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, in a Midland hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in the Slaters Chapel Cemetery in Nolan County with the Rev. Gary Redwine officiating.

Services will be under the direction of Pipkin Funeral Home of Midland.


Earl A. Davenport

Earl A. Davenport, 72, of Snyder and formerly of Sweetwater, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005, in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in the Faith Lutheran Church with Keith Hills and Randall Satterfield officiating.

Burial will follow in the Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Mr. Davenport was born on Oct. 27, 1933, in San Angelo. He married Nelda Mae Rogge on June 13, 1958, in Roscoe, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 1997. He married Carol Hamilton on Jan. 19, 1999, in Lovington, N.M. Mr. Davenport was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sweetwater. He worked as a lineman for T.U. Electric for many years before retiring.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Davenport of Snyder; one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Billy Cook of Gilmer; two step-children, Alan Hamilton of Bangs and Andrea Kight of San Angelo; four grandchildren, Briana Cook, Cheyenne Dale Cook, Danielle Hamilton and Brooke Hamilton; four sisters, Nancy Priest of Abilene, Eva Sellers of Albuquerque, N.M., Claudia Groves of Dallas and Bobbie Ellis of Sweetwater; one brother, Lonnie Davenport of Longview; three half sisters, Jessie Duggan of Dallas, Mary Banks of Keller and Margie Ross of California; and one half brother, J.T. Wilson of Sweetwater.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nelda Mae Davenport, on Jan. 3, 1997; one daughter, Pamela Jane Nagel, on March 24, 1991; and his parents, Elonzo and Mary Davenport.

Edward C. Schneider Jr.

Edward C. Schneider Jr., 88, of Roscoe died Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005, in the Scott and White Hospital in Temple.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005, in the Roscoe Church of Christ with Phil Collard, Denny Sneed, John Morgan and Lauren Garduno officiating.

Burial will follow in the Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in the funeral home in Roscoe.

Mr. Schneider was born to Edward C. and Lena Annie Schneider on Nov. 22, 1917, in Field's Store in Waller County. He married Lemma Tharpe Nichols Schneider on July 17, 1940, in Abilene. Mr. Schneider was an elder of Roscoe Church of Christ for many years. He was a vocational agriculture teacher for 33 years in Roscoe (1947-70) and in Sweetwater (1970-71). He lived in Roscoe since 1946, and was a farmer and rancher. Mr. Schneider also taught school from 1939-40 in Millers View and in Wingate from 1940-45. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1945-46. Mr. Schneider retired from teaching in 1971. He was a member of the Roscoe Lions Club since 1946.

Survivors include three daughters, Denise Sprott and her husband, David, of Belton; Sharon Nault and Edwina Roswell and her husband, Tim, all of Shep; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lemma Tharpe Nichols Schneider, on Oct. 6, 2005; a brother, William H. Schneider; a grandson, Ross Roswell; and a son-in-law, David Nault.


Teddy Max Gill

Teddy Max Gill, 55, a Star-Telegram employee for the past 20 years, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2005.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in the Crosier Pearson Mayfield Funeral Home in Burleson.

Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie .

Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, in the funeral home.

Teddy was and avid gardener, computer tech and ham radio operator. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, grandpa, brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle. He will be greatly missed, but he knew the Lord and we will meet again in Heaven.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Sandra; sons that he treasured, Craig and his wife, Sarah, and their son Ryan; Chance and his fiance', Tracy; father Tommy Joe Gill; and sister Tracy Wilburn, both of Sweetwater; brother, Terry Gill of El Paso; and many loving family members and friends.


Emogene Gotcher

Emogene Gotcher, 77, of Sweetwater died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, in her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in the McCoy Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Jimmy Don Bennett officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brookshire Cemetery in Tennyson.

Mrs. Gotcher was born on Dec. 18, 1927, in Snyder. She married Wilburn Gotcher on July 14, 1945, in Snyder. Mrs. Gotcher was a member of the Faith Harvest Pentecostal Church in Sweetwater. She lived in Sweetwater since 1948 and was the housekeeping supervisor at the Holiday Inn and Sundown Motel for several years. Mrs. Gotcher worked at the Village Supermarket in the bakery.

Survivors include one son, Wayne Gotcher of Abilene; four daughters, Deborah Wisdom and her husband, Richard, of Burleson, Carla Gotcher of Amarillo, Elyon Gotcher and her husband, Doug, and Bonita Harris and her husband, Ronald, all of Sweetwater; one step-daughter, Zandra Moore and her husband, Larry, of Texarkana; four sisters, Cleo Keller of Snyder, Juanita Richardson and her husband, Paul, of San Angelo, Lela Warren and her husband, Bubba, of Indonisia, and Sheila Vineyard and her husband, Tommy, of Odessa; three brothers, Arnold Lee Eades and his wife, Mickie, of Opealika, Ala., Calvin Eades and his wife, Joyce, of Houston, and James Warren Eades of San Angelo; 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Cleo Eades; her father, June Eades, on Jan. 19, 1973; her step-mother, Opal Eades, on Feb. 15, 2004; her husband, Wilburn Gotcher, on Jan. 10, 1999; and one brother, Dole Eades.


Mathilda Pauline Sedden

Mathilda Pauline Sedden, age 85, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2005 in Sweetwater.

Graveside services are 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with the Reverend Orvel Brantley officiating.

She was born on January 18, 1920 in Haskell , Texas . She was married to Olin Clark Sedden on April 6, 1941 in Hamlin , Texas . She was a housewife and mother and had lived in Sweetwater since 1982. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church of Sweetwater.

She is survived by: three daughters, Wanda Wenetschlaeger and husband, Frank of Yoakum, Texas, Dorothy Wimmer and husband, Tom of Sweetwater, Texas, and Valli Creed and husband, Ollie of Sweetwater, Texas; a brother, Carl Moeller and wife, Martha of Velma, Oklahoma; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Sedden on May 31, 1982; a son, Ray Sedden; a sister, Lillian Moeller; and a brother, Otto Moeller.

Pallbearers will be: Joe Wimmer, Michael Montoya, Joshua Montoya, Stanley Creed, Charlie Wenetschlaeger, and James Wenetschlaeger.

Marie B. Hurst

Marie B. Hurst, 84, of Roscoe and formerly of Fort Worth, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, in the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, in the Greenwood Funeral Home chapel in Fort Worth.

Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Local arrangements were with McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Mrs. Hurst was born on Nov. 25, 1920, in Loraine. She married Winford O. Hurst. Mrs. Hurst was a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Fort Worth. She lived in Roscoe for the past two years and was a former resident of Fort Worth. Mrs. Hurst graduated from Loraine High School. For 37 years, she was a synchronized swimming coach and enjoyed all of it.

Survivors include one sister, Jynell Nitzche of Roscoe; one sister-in-law, Lucille Gregory of Sulpher Springs; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 31, 1999.

 


Rebecca Kay Cooper Morgan

Rebecca Kay Morgan, 41, of Houston went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005.

She was a devoted wife and mother, loving sister, daughter and dear friend. She was an active member of University Baptist Church, including teaching Sunday school. She supported her children and community by serving in leadership roles in PTA, as den leader for her sons' Cub Scout pack, and enthusiastically participating in all of her sons' school, music and sporting activities. Rebecca was a caring and dedicated preschool teacher at Clear Lake Presbyterian. She was an avid runner, including competing in the 2005 Houston Marathon. She loved scrapbooking and traveling with her family. Most of all, Rebecca brought love and laughter to everyone around her.

Rebecca was born in Sweetwater on Sept. 20, 1964. She was raised in Roscoe, where she graduated from high school. A Summa Cum Laude graduate of Texas Tech Uni-versity, she was also a Certified Public Accountant.

She is survived by her loving husband of 20 years, Charles “Chuck” Neal Morgan; sons, Tyler Keith Morgan and Bryce Cooper Morgan; parents, Weldon and Reta Cooper; mother-in-law, Grace Morgan; sisters, Cynthia Duncan, Janice Harris and Debbie Downs; and many other family members and friends.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at University Baptist Church in Houston. She was buried at Forest Park East Cemetery.


 

Sarah LaVerne Sorelle

Sarah LaVerne Sorelle, 92, of Sweetwater died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, in the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Metzger officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories in Sweetwater under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sorelle was born on March 15, 1913. She married Edwin King Sorelle Jr. on Aug. 6, 1933, in Merkel. She was a housewife and member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Sorelle lived in Sweetwater and Abilene most of her life. She taught school in Eskota in the 1940s. Mrs. Sorelle also worked for Gooch Packing Co. for seven years as an office clerk.

Survivors include one son, Billy Gene Sorelle of Merkel; two grandchildren and two nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 4, 1996; and a brother, Robert Hall.

Memorials may be made to SNAP or First United Methodist Church.


Larry Hollingsworth

Larry Hollingsworth, 51, of Sweetwater died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, in the Hendrick Medical Center .

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, in the Garden of Memories with the Rev. Rick Hargrave officiating.

Services will be under the direction of Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Mr. Hollingsworth was born on Sept. 24, 1954, in Sweetwater. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Charles L. Burnett.

Survivors include his mother, Dorris Hollingsworth of Anson; two daughters, Misty Hollingsworth of Sweetwater and Lucky Hollingsworth of Austin ; two sisters, Barbara Sanderson of Anson and Glenda Kay Price; and one brother, Butch Hollingsworth of Fort Worth .

He was preceded in death by his father, S.W. Hollingsworth; and one brother, Oren McElhaney.


Charles Denson “C.D.” Leonard

Funeral services for Charles Denson “C.D.” Leonard, 92, of Bryan , formerly of Hilltop Lakes , are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at the Hilltop Lakes Chapel. Bro. Bob Kristensen and Bro. Tony Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery .

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at Cozart Funeral Home.

Leonard was born on Sept. 20, 1913, in Buck-holts to Charles Bennett and Jessie (Voyles) Leonard, and died Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan . He was a resident of Hilltop Lakes from 1978 to 2001, when he and his wife Evelyn moved to Bryan . He retired from Southwestern Bell Tele-phone Co. as an area supervisor of Northeast Texas and Western Arkansas . He was with the company for 41 years, and had lived with his family in Fort Worth , Sweetwater, Hamlin, Abilene , Lubbock and Richardson .

He and wife Evelyn were married on Oct. 24, 1934, in Fort Worth . He was of the Baptist faith, and a member of the Hilltop Lakes Chapel.

Leonard was president of the Telephone Pioneers in Abilene in 1960. He was president of the Hilltop Lakes Lions Club 1982-83, vice president of the Hilltop Lakes Property Owner's Board 1986-87 and served on the board from 1979-88. He was a member of the Hilltop Lakes Golf Association since 1978, and a member of the Rogers Prairie Masonic Lodge #540 in Normangee. He was awarded his 50-year pin at the Rogers Prairie Masonic Lodge in August 2000. He was a member of the Scottish Rite since 1965. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with 63 years membership. He served six years on the Hilltop Lakes Chapel board of trustees.

He was preceded in death by parents Charles Bennett and Jessie Leonard; and three sisters.

Survivors include wife Evelyn Leonard of Bryan; four sons, Al Leonard and wife Kay of Bryan, Rodney Leonard and wife Barbara of Corpus Christi, J.B. Leonard of Benchley, and Randy Leonard and wife Mary Jo of River Plantation (The Woodlands); brother Bill Leonard, 88, of Bedford; sister Clara Lance, 94, of Fort Worth; six grandchildren, Angela Leonard Gardner of Spring Branch, Lance Leonard of St. Louis, Mo., Lanay Leonard Britt of Plano, Tammy Leonard Williams of Saltillo, Miss., Kyle Leonard of Coppell and Tiffany Leonard Saucedo of Houston; and 10 great-grandchildren, Katy Gardner, Amy Gardner, Sarah Gardner, Gentry Leonard, Preston Leonard, Connor Engelbrecht, Kennedy Engel-brecht, Cole Engelbrecht, Hannah Williams and Joshua Williams.

Lura Lee Davis

Lura Lee Davis, 97, of Sweetwater died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in the Midland Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in the Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home chapel in Sweetwater with the Rev. Mark Metzger officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

Mrs. Davis was born on Nov. 10, 1908, in Anson. She married J. Frank Davis on July 19, 1942. Mrs. Davis worked as a school teacher for many years for the Sweetwater ISD. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one niece, Minnie Mae Stallings of Temple.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Frank Davis, on Feb. 5, 1981.


Cecil Carol Woods Sr.

Cecil Carol Woods Sr., 63, of Sweetwater died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in the McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with the Rev. James Baker officiating.

Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, in the funeral home.

Mr. Woods was born on April 22, 1942, in Rule, Miss. He married Mary Helen Tucker on Oct. 3, 1985, in Sweetwater. Mr. Woods lived in Sweetwater for the past 28 years, moving here from New Orleans, La. He attended the First Assembly of God Church. Mr. Woods worked for U.S. Gypsum for 30 years, retiring in 1996 after 30 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Woods of Sweetwater; five children, Cecil Carol Woods II, Edward Ross Woods and Carol Ann Robert, all of Marrero, La., Johnathan Woods of Indianapolis, Ind., and Angela Marie Hunsicker of Cloverdale, Ind.; one stepson, Darrell Hardin of Sweetwater; two brothers, Curtis Woods of Lumberton, Miss., and Jimmy Woods of Slidell, La.; two sisters, Christian Combs of Zachary, La., and Jean Miller of Florence, Miss.; 11 grandchildren, one step-grandchild and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis Davis Woods and Lottie May, and a brother, Little Henry.


Lloyd Lewis Neeper

Lloyd Lewis Neeper, 99, died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, in a Longview nursing home.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sweetwater with the Rev. Mark Metzger officiating.

Services will be under the direction of Welch Funeral Home of Longview.

The family will receive friends at the graveside at 12:30 p.m.

Mr. Neeper was born on Jan. 23, 1906, in Sandy Springs, now Leola, Ark., as the son of Joe and Lula Williams Neeper, longtime residents and farmers in the Moody Community of Fisher County. The family moved to Fisher County when Lloyd was just a baby. He married Henri Lee Stanford on Jan. 31, 1927, in the parsonage of Highland Heights Methodist Church while that original church was being built. Henri Lee died after 52 years of marriage on June 26, 1979. For many years, both were associated with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Sweetwater.

On May 8, 1983, Mr. Neeper married Erma Hall Shipley, who passed away on June 30, 2004.

Survivors include a son, Leland and his wife, Ruth, of Longview; a granddaughter, Mary Lee Steele and her husband, Al, of Jackson, Miss.; a grandson, Layne and his wife, Carol, of Morehead, Ky., great-granddaughters, Laura Sessions and Hannah Neeper; great-grandsons, Mark Steele, David Steele and Lowell Neeper; step-daughter, Martha Taylor; and step-grandchildren, Mark and Melissa Taylor; and two Sessions great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Neeper is also survived by one sister, Ruth Gordon of St. Louis, Mo., and one brother, Gene Neeper of Justin.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.


Marget Edna Parrish

Marget Edna Parrish, 73, died at Nolan Nursing and Rehab on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born on May 14, 1931, in San Angelo. She married Alvin Parrish on Dec. 18, 1947, in Cottonwood.

Edna is survived by her husband, Alvin Parrish; her daughters, Linda Linebaugh of Sweetwater and Melissa Parrish of Ranger; her sons, Allen Parish and his wife, Pat, of Big Spring, and Harold Parrish of Sweetwater; her sisters, Oneta Bell and her husband, David, of Eula, and Effie Jo Sheppard and her husband, Edward, of Odessa. She has 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Henry and Marget Ellenard Carrell; her sister, Madlene Slate; and her brothers, Wylie Carrell and Richard Carrell.

Funeral services for Edna Parrish will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, in the Higginbotham Funeral Home chapel in Cross Plains.

Edna's nephew, Rodney Bell, will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Cross Plains Cemetery.

Relatives and friends are welcome at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Cross Plains from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005.

Edna has many friends and family in Big Spring, Cross Plains and Sweetwater. She will be greatly missed. She will live in our hearts forever.


Tammy Lynette Cassady

Tammy Lynette Cassady, 35, of Sweetwater died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, in the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, in the Sweetwater Cemetery with the Rev. James Thompson officiating.

Services will be under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Mrs. Cassady was born on Jan. 27, 1970, in Columbia , Tenn. She married Stephen Cassady on Sept. 22, 1986, in Sweetwater. Mrs. Cassady was Pentecostal and lived in Sweetwater most of her life. She worked as a waitress.

Survivors include her husband, Stephen Cassady of Sweetwater; two daughters, Stephanie Elaine Cassady of Sweetwater and Vannette Nichole Cassady of Abilene ; her mother, Vannette Hicks of Abilene ; her grandmother, Norma Parker of Sweetwater; and her father and mother-in-law, John and Odessa Cassady of Sweetwater.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Cates.


Hattie Bell Way

Funeral services for Hattie Bell Way , 93, of Whitney, were conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, in the Rosser Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Garry Way officiated. Interment followed at Greenacres Memorial Park . The family received visitors before the service, beginning at noon, Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005.

Serving as pallbearers were Terry Way , Greg Way , Richard Way , Brandon Way, Lance Gunkel and Jacob Taylor.

Mrs. Way was born on Feb. 9, 1912, in Snyder to John Anthony and Kate Brown Morgan Sr. She passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 in Whitney.

Mrs. Way is survived by her sons, the Rev. Don Way and wife, Marie, of Cleburne, Mickey Way of Whitney and Dean Way and wife, Marti, of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Edith Simmons of Snyder; 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, Andrew J. Way ; her daughter, Joy Gunkel; three brothers and three sisters.

 


Betty Jean Davisson Ferris

Betty Jean Davisson Ferris was born on May 8, 1921, in Newton , Kansas . Her family soon moved to Pueblo , Colorado , where she was raised. She graduated from the University of Denver with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in speech and drama. For several years she taught school in Denver and Golden, Colorado , and in Houston , Texas .

She married Bernard Ferris in 1944. They lived in several places -- New York , Holland , Houston , Midland , Roswell , and Denver , moving to Sweetwater in 1998. She enjoyed skiing, needlework, reading, bridge, and traveling to forty - four foreign countries. She belonged to The First United Methodist Church, P.E.O., Anthenaeum, Book Club, and Bridge Club.

She is survived by her husband, Bernie, of 61 years; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Bill Johnson, of Sweetwater and their children, Justin of Dallas and Jenny of Lubbock ; her son, Randy, and his wife, Sharily, of Durango , Colorado ; and her sister, LaVora Copley, of Concord , California .

Services in Sweetwater will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at The First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Mark Metzger officiating, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Her ashes will be interred in her family plot at the Imperial Gardens in Pueblo , Colorado .


Mildred Mitchell Harris

Mildred Mitchell Harris, 96, of Florence died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, in Florence.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, in the Sweetwater Cemetery with the Rev. Jim McClung officiating.

Services will be under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

Mrs. Harris was born on July 9, 1909, in Victoria, La. She married Richard Mitchell in 1928 and married Bryant Harris in 1979. Mrs. Harris lived in Garden City for 50 years and was also a resident of Sweetwater. She lived in Florence the past one and one-half years. Mrs. Harris was the music teacher in Garden City and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Alice Pritchard of Joshua and Kay McCorquodale of Florence; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Mitchell, in 1963; and her second husband, Bryant Harris, in 1993.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Garden City.


Delmer Donald Stanley
 
Delmer Donald Stanley, 85, of Roscoe died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, in the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
 
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, in the Church of Christ in Roscoe with John Morgan and Denny Sneed officiating.
 
Burial will follow in the Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of the McCoy Funeral Home.
 
Mr. Stanley was born on June 26, 1920, in Sheridan, Wyo. He married Wilma Smith on Jan. 18, 1946, in Hawthorne, Calif. Mr. Stanley was a member of the Roscoe Church of Christ. He was a bookkeeper and lived in Roscoe since 1977. He was a 1941 graduate of Pampa High School and attended Pepperdine University in California and West Texas State in Canyon.
 
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Stanley of Roscoe; one daughter, Cathy Lee Beckman of Roscoe; one son, Larry T. Stanley of Richardson; and four grandchildren.
 
He was preceded in deat! h by his son, Gary Don Stanley, on Jan. 1, 1947; a brother, Wendell Stanley; and his parents, Charles Richard Stanley and Hazel Del Reeves.
 

Memorials may be made to the Lubbock Christian Home or the West Texas Rehab Center.


Lindal Jean Cardwell Dunlop

Lindal Jean Dunlop, 79 of Kermit passed away Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She was born June 17, 1926 in Roby, to the late Leslie and Marvin Rachel Cardwell.

She was a 51 year resident of Kermit and was a member of the Church of Christ. Lindal was also a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Norris Giesler in 1960 and married her current husband, Calvin Dunlop in Kermit in 1964.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin of Kermit; one son, Mike Giesler and wife Diane of Atlanta; one daughter, Jill Giesler Welch and husband Sam of Fritch; two stepsons, Jack and wife Mary Lea Dunlop of Amarillo, and Joe and wife Candy Dunlop of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, Roland Cardwell and wife Judy of Sweetwater; two sisters, Janell Brown of Kermit and Mildred Anderson husband Tommy of Sweetwater; eight grandchildren, Lanny, Cody, Jason, Jonas, Cassidy, John, Susan, and Carly; one great-grandchild, Jack; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins

Memorials may be made to Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or Wink Church of Christ

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Eastside Church of Christ with Brian McGonagill officiating.

Pallbearers were her grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Bob Huskey, Billy Cotton, Leroy Michaelis and Weldon Hartley.

Arrangements were entrusted to Family Services Funeral Parlor of Kermit.

 


Vallie Dewitt Hodges

Vallie Dewitt Hodges, 74, of Sweetwater died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, in the Sweetwater Healthcare Center.

His body was donated to a medical science school. No services are planned at this time.

McCoy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 


Stelvin Kidd

Stelvin Kidd, 89, of Abilene and formerly of the Highland Community, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005, in the Abilene Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, in the Broadway Baptist Church with the Rev. James Baker officiating. The Rev. David Chittenden will assist during the service.

Burial will follow in the Roscoe Cemetery, with the military honor guard performing. Services will be under the direction of Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home of Sweetwater.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, in the funeral home.

Mr. Kidd was born on Feb. 13, 1916, in Loraine. He married Marie Woodard on Aug. 25, 1956. Mr. Kidd worked as a farmer and rancher, and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Kidd of Abilene; one son, Tim Kidd and his wife, Robin, of Abilene; one daughter, Beth Quinney and her husband, Mark, of Abilene; one brother, Woodrow Kidd of Roscoe; and three grandchildren, Shelby and Seth Kidd and Katy Quinney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Sammie Kidd; two brothers, Kenneth Kidd and Elbert Kidd; and one sister, Lois Buckner.
