88, of Naples died Thursday, Sept. 3, 1998 in a Naples nursing center. Mrs.
Allen was born June 2, 1910 in Morris Co. She was a retired stewardess,
homemaker and member of Cottrell Chapel CME and Norris S Currey CEM Church where
she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member, and she was a Heroine of
Jericho, Court No. 232. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Marion
and Kathy Ford of Las Vegas and Edwin and Berdie Rutherford of Naples; one
brother, Paul Allen, Sr. of Naples; three sisters, Anna Belle Cannon of Naples,
Essie D. Cannon of Los Angeles and Mollie Hill of Oakland, CA; eight
grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Services were Wednesday, Sept. 9,
1998 at Norris S. Curry CME Church in Naples with the Rev. Q. T. Williams and
the rev. R. N. King officiating. Burial will be in the Morning Star Cemetery

1919 in Naples. He died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000, in Mt. Pleasant. He was retired
from Red River Army Depot and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors

and Sandra McGary of Lewisville, and Bridget and Arnold Fariley of Pflugerville;
one son, Paul Allen Jr. of Texarkana; two sisters, Annabelle Cannon of Naples

great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Charles Paul Allen.

Christ where she was a faithful member and worker serving as church treasurer
and Sunday school teacher. She was married March 29, 1941 to Jimmie E. Bonner
and they were the parents of five children. Survivors include Clarence Williams
of McAllen; James Bonner of Naples; Margaret Young of Garland, and Joyce and
Erbie Bonner of Naples; 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a nephew,

after 20 years. He served as a deacon at the Good Street Baptist Church under
the pastorage of Dr. C. A. W. Clark until his health failed. Preceding Mr.
Cannon in death were his parents, a daughter, Wilma cannon; his step-mother who
raised him, Susie Ellen Cannon; seven sisters; and five brothers. Survivors

January 28, 1942, to Mary K. Petty and Pleas Daniels. She was first a member of
the Cottrell Chapel CME Church of Naples, and then with Union Chapel Baptist
Church where she served as a member of the senior choir. She graduated from
George Washington Carver High School at Omaha-Naples, attended East Texas State
University, Texarkana Community College and Northeast Texas Community College.
She was employed with the Mt. Pleasant School District where she was a
paraprofessional and a bus driver. She is survived by three children and their
spouses, LaTonya and Raymond Ellis St., of Cason, Wesley and Anissa Turner, and
Jackie Johnson, all of Pittsburg; four grandchildren, Durron W. Turner, Brandi
Green, Raymond Ellis Jr., and Malik Ellis; her mther and stepfather, Mary K. and

Henderson was born November 7, 1915, in Darden, Texas, the daughter of Willie
and Victoria Miller Wilson. She died July 23, 2008, in Mt. Pleasant. She was
retired from Red River Army Depot, was a member of Lodge #232 Heroines of
Jericho, Mary Allen Court and was the oldest member of Antioch Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Henderson; a son, James Harold
Henderson; her parents; 17 brothers and sisters; two great-grandchildren; and
one great-great-grandchild. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law,
Bobby Dan and Mary L Henderson of San Antonio and Willie Norman and Mary V
Henderson of Naples; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a number
of other relatives. Pallbearers were Anthony Stokes, Patrick Collins, Ed

Services for Mr. John L. Taylor, 78, of Naples, were November 23,

Taylor was born March 14, 1930, in Naples, to the late Lenora D. Hunter and
Ardmore Taylor. He departed November 18, 2008, leaving family and friends with
lots of cherished memories. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a
devoted Christian and active member of Antioch Baptist Church. He served the
Lord as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School secretary, usher and
board member. He was a graduate of Carver High School and a strong believer in
education. He received an associate degree at McNeese College before entering
the military. He was stationed at Fort Gordon, Georgia; Fort Monmouth, New
Jersey; Lackland Air Force Base; Alaska; Panama; Korea; Germany and Vietnam. He
was a devoted soldier as a 10th Special Forces Green Beret and was
honored with numerous commendations and awards. He retired with 25 years of
honorable service as a Non Commissioned Officer. Soon after, he was employed at
Red River Army Depot where he again retired after 9 years. He was a gracious
servant to the areas school board, served as a city councilman for many years,
was an active participant with the Naples Watermelon Festival and was selected
as the 2006 Grand Marshal. Survivors from a previous marriage to Katherine
Taylor include four daughters, LaCarole Faulkner of Moorestown, New Jersey,
Karen Williams and Tracey Taylor of Orlando, Florida, and Kimberly Johnson of
Kannapolis, North Carolina; stepson, Kenya M King currently stationed in
Bamberg, Germany, from a marriage with Mildred Taylor of Naples; two
sons-in-law, Leonard Faulkner and Shadee Johnson; 11 grandchildren; one
great-grandchild; and a host of family members. Burial was in Morning Star

Funeral services
for Mr. Alton C. Wilkerson, 59, of Naples, were Saturday, June 24, at Tumey
Mortuary in Mt. Pleasant, with the Rev. Don Hill officiating. Mr. Wilkerson was
born September 3, 1946 in Naples. He died Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in Tyler. He
was retired from Bonded Motors, and was a veteran of the US Air Force.
Survivors include two sons, Alton Charles (Bugsy) Wilkerson II, and Alton
Charles (Snuggie) Wilkerson III, of Los Angeles; his mother, Faydell Wilkerson
of Naples; two sisters, Shirley Wilkerson and Sheila Wilkerson, of Mesquite;
three grandchildren, Diondre Wilkerson, Keontae Wilkerson and Ashley Wilkerson
of Los Angeles; and a number of other relatives. Interment was in the Morning

Mrs. Faydell Wilkerson, 77, of Naples were Friday, September 29, 2006, at Norris
S Curry CME Church with the Rev. Don Hill and Rev. Melvina Darty officiating.
Mrs. Wilkerson was born October 7, 1928 in Naples. She died Friday, September
22, 2006 in Mt. Pleasant. She was retired from David Granberry Hospital and a
member of Lodge 232, Heroines of Jericho, Mary Allen Court and Norris S Curry
CME Church. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Wilkerson and Sheila
Wilkerson, both of Mesquite; four brothers, Forrest Warren and Billy Warren,
both of Los Angeles and A. C. Warren and Wesley �Jack� Warren, both of Naples;
four sisters, Johnnie Mae Warren, Betty Warren and Thelma Warren, all of Naples,
and Jeanette Warren of Los Angeles; two grandsons, and numerous other
relatives. She was preceded in death by one son, Alton Wilkerson. Interment

Services for Mr.
Clarence Lawrence Williams, 77, of Naples will be today, Wednesday, Aug. 30,
2000 at 11 am at the Norris S Curry CME Church with the Rev. Harold Wright
officiating. Mr. Williams was born Dec. 22, 1922 in Commerce, the son of Willie
Williams and Bertha Williams Reynolds. He died Friday, August 25, 2000 at
SunBridge Nursing Home. He attended Carver High School, served in the US
Merchant Marines during World War II, served in Okinawa aboard the USS John
Muir. Mr. Williams was employed as a US Postal worker for 29 years before
retiring. He was a member of the Norris S Curry CME Church where he served as a
trustee. He is survived by his sons Clarence Williams, Jr. of McAllen and James
N. Williams of Daly City, CA; daughters Margarette A. Robinson of San Jose, CA,
Marjorie Patterson of DeSoto and Phenicia Tyson of Hammond, LA; numerous
grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment will

Grady Williams, 93, of Naples were January 1, 2005 at Williams Chapel Baptist
Church of Naples, with the Rev. Sammie D. Ivery, Jr., officiating. Mr. Williams
was born August 22, 1911, in Morris Co. He died December 27, 2004 at Titus
Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant. He was a farmer and a member of the
Williams Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include one daughter, Bertha Legans
of Ft. Worth; a step-daughter, Bobby Jo Gaston of Marietta; 13 grandchildren; 42
great-grandchildren; one brother, A. W. William of Dallas; and a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. Burial was in the Morning Star Cemetery at

Gussie Mae Young, 90, of Naples, were November 8, 2008, at Antioch Baptist
Church with Bishop Charlie C Young Jr., Officiating. Mrs. Young was born May 3,
1918, in Omaha. She died October 31, 2008, in Mt. Pleasant. She attended
Naples Public Schools, was a life long resident of Naples, a homemaker, a member
of Antioch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the
choir. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include five sons,
John A. and Elizabeth Young of Lafayette, IN, Deryl G Young of Naples, Cleve A
Young and Donny R and Margaret Young of Garland, Bishop Charlie C and Eva Young
of Naples; 13 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Burial was in
