Barron, 61, of Lone Star, TX, died Monday, July 16, 2007, in Hughes Springs,
TX. Mrs. Barron was born Jan. 19, 1946, in Pittsburg, TX. She was a retired
licensed vocational nurse and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Larry Douglas Barron; and one son, Ronald
Wayne Barron. Survivors include one daughter, Angela Kay Barron of TX; two
brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert W. McCurdy of Daingerfield and Larry and
Debbie McCurdy of Ore City, TX; one grandson, Tony Reeder Barron of
Daingerfield; one granddaughter, Jasmine McKinney of Henderson, TX; and a number
of other relatives. Services will be 11 am today at Nail-Haggard Funeral Home

February 2, 1946, in Marietta. He died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, in Longview.
He attended Church on the Rock, was an employee of Reilly Industries, a member
of Iron Bluff Masonic Lodge #1376, was in the US Army, served in Vietnam and was
a disabled veteran. Survivors include his wife, Linda Barron of Lone Star;
daughter, Angela Barron of Longview; grandson, Tony Reeder of Lone Star;

City Cemetery. Mrs. Churchwell was born August 27, 1908, in Titus County. She
was a housewife and a Baptist. Survivors include her husband, Marvin Churchwell

Mildred Terrell of Daingerfield, Josephine Terrell of One Star, Ruby Ivy of

CONNOR, CURTIS EDWARD

Graveside services for Mr. Curtis Edward Connor, 87, of Daingerfield, were June
30, 2008, at Daingerfield �Connor� Cemetery and a memorial service followed at
Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Daingerfield with the Rev. Dr. Dave Johnson of
Marshall officiating. Mr. Connor was born December 24, 1920, in Daingerfield,
to Curtis Graham �Rip� Connor and Kate Thigpen Connor. He was preceded in death
by his parents, and his beloved wife of 52 years, Laura Eleanor May Connor. A
1942 graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Connor taught agricultural education
in Conroe, Texas, prior to serving in World War II. He was an active member of
the Polar Bear Association of WWII, comprised of men in the 339th
infantry Regiment, 85th �Custer� Division, who served the United
States on the Italian front. The division was one of the Fifth Army�s premier
fighting divisions and contributed directly to the capture of Rome, the
destruction of the German �Gothic Line� in the North Apennines, and the closure
of Brenner Pass in the Italian Alps. Mr. Connor was awarded several medals of
honor, including a Bronze Star for valor and meritorious service. He returned
to East Texas after WWII and continuously farmed and ranched land settled by his
great-grandparents, Orange and Judith Connor, who came to Texas from Tennessee
in 1848. He was honored by the State of Texas in 2007 with certification in the
Family Land Heritage Program for 150 years of continuous agricultural operation
within the same family. Mr. Connor was a founding board member of the Texas
Farm Bureau in Morris County and served as a board member throughout his
lifetime. He was an active member of the Morris and Camp County Cattlemen�s
Association, and was an active member of the Cumberland First Presbyterian
Church. Preceding him in death were six brothers and sisters, Curtis Loren
Connor, Emeline Connor Hart, Leo M Connor, Katharine Connor McCoy, Eleanor
Connor Briggs and Maydelle Connor Wilson. Survivors include three daughters and
their husbands, Eleanor and Dr. L John Kirk III of Longview, Cynthia and Randall
D Kidwell of Tyler, and Marjorie and Melvin O Roberson of Daingerfield; six
grandchildren, Benton Connor Kirk of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Julie Kidwell Ischy of
Tyler, William Graham Kirk of Decatur, Ryan Connor Kidwell of Minneapolis,
Minnesota, Laura Kirk of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Katy Robertson of Ft. Wayne,
Indiana; one great-grandchild, Curis Connor Kirk of Sao Paulo, Brazil; one
brother-in-law, James R. Wilson of Dallas; and ten nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were board members of the Texas Farm Bureau, Gay Camp, Odis Cline,
James Collins, Jimmy Gilliam, Tony Littlefield, Greg Mabus, Al Padgett, Glen
Ragland, Charles Thompson and Ricky Tigert. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Ewan,

Connor, 82, of Daingerfield, died on Saturday, April 28, 1996, at a Longview,
Texas, hospital. Services were at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, at the First
United Methodist Church, in Daingerfield, with the Rev. Curtis Grissett and Rev.
Lynn Parker officiating. Burial was in the Connor Section of the Daingerfield
City Cemetery. Mr. Connor was born on June 5, 1913, in Daingerfield. He had
worked in the family-owned Connor Brothers store, was past operator of a feed
store, a rancher, former fire chief of the Daingerfield Volunteer Fire
Department, former director of the National Bank of Daingerfield, a member of
the First United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the finance
committee, first president of the Beaverbrook Country Club, a charter member of
the Daingerfield Lions Club, a member of the Morris County Cattleman�s
Association, Sigma Nu Fraternity, Scottish Rite, Hella Temple, Dallas, and Oasis
Lodge 79, Daingerfield, and was named Daingerfield Citizen of the Year in 1980.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Connor of Daingerfield; three daughters and
two sons-in-laws, Carolyn Adkins of Daingerfield, Ann and James Butcher of
Sachse, Texas, and Betty and David Mullis of Sunderland, Maryland; eight

Our big sister, Barbara Kennedy Garrett Foreman of Sapulpa, OK died Oct. 27 in
Tulsa after an extended illness. Barbara was born July 25, 1947, in Gilmer and
was raised primarily in Daingerfield. She was preceded in death by her father,
Clyde Kennedy; and her first husband, Ron Garrett. Survivors include her
husband, Steven Woodrow "Woody" Foreman; daughter, Rebecca Gill and husband
Dennis of Broken Arrow, OK; son, Donald Garrett and wife Linda of Ketchum, OK;
grandchildren, Destine Garrett, Kennedy Garrett, and Bryant Gill. She is also
survived by her mother, Edna Justiss Kennedy and sisters, Patricia Schnur and
husband Rudi of Baton Rouge, La. and Colleen West and husband David of Angleton
and their families. Barbara had a fun and artistic personality. She was a
loving individual that made people feel welcome and appreciated. A memorial
service was held for Barbara on Nov. 3 at the Church of Christ in Daingerfield,

years. She was a bookkeeper for Jones Furniture before retirement in 1985. She

Robert Marlin Hampton, 72, of Daingerfield, were Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at

Hampton was born January 15, 1934, Cornett. He died Sunday, March 19, 2006,
surrounded by his loving family. He was a graduate of Hughes Springs High
School, was an employee of Lone Star Steel for 42 years during which time he, in
addition to several other offices, served as president of the United Steel
Workers Union, local 4134, from 1985 to 1991. He retired from Lone Star in
1996. Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Cynthia, of Daingerfield; two
daughters and son-in-law, Julia Wolfswinkel of Frisco and Becky and Don Erdek of
Forney; one son and daughter-in-law, Maxie and Laurie Laney of Daingerfield; six

Zettie Marie Jones, 77, of Daingerfield, were June 17, 2009 at New Hope
Missionary Baptist Church of Daingerfield with Pastor D. A. Hill and the Rev.
Carl Jones officiating. Mrs. Jones was born August 4, 1931 in Avinger. She
died June 10, 2009, in Longview. She was a member of Eastern Star, New Hope
Missionary Baptist Church, an assistant Sunday School teacher, was a deaconess,
a member of the church district board and the Pastor�s Aid Committee and the
choir. She was also a caregiver for the Hawkins family and worked at the Dairy
Queen in Daingerfield for 17 years. Survivors include five daughters, Lillie
and William Carter of Houston, Glinda Mims and Glen Smith of Daingerfield, Janet

Our wonderful mother, Edna Faye Justiss Kennedy of Daingerfield,
died unexpectedly on Oct. 31 at Titus Regional Medical Center. Edna was born
Nov. 2, 1922, in Daingerfield and was a lifelong resident of the Daingerfield
area. Her parents were Joe and Willie Lowe Justiss. She was preceded in death
by her husband, Clyde Kennedy and daughter, Barbara Foreman. Edna is survived
by her daughters, Patricia Schnur and husband Rudi of Baton Rouge, LA. and
Colleen West and husband David of Angleton; grandchildren, Rebecca GIll, and
husband Dennis of Broken Arrow, OK., Donald Garrett and wife Linda of Ketchum,
OK., Sascha Schnur and wife Elizabeth and Sean Schnur, all of Baton Rouge, Kelly
West and Corey West, both of Angleton, Erin West of College Station; and four
great-grandchildren, Destine and Kennedy Garrett, Bryant Gill, and Owen Schnur.
Her living siblings include Howard, Adron, and C. Y. Justiss and Bessie Cason.
Mama was a special woman who was loved dearly by those around her. She will be
fondly remembered. Funeral services for Edna were held Nov. 3 at the Church of
Christ in Daingerfield with Norman Miller and Tim Gibbs officiating. Burial was

Marguerite Kennedy, 88, of Naples, were February 29, 2009, at First Baptist

officiating. Mrs. Kennedy was born July 23, 1920, in Daingerfield. She died
February 26, 2009, in Longview. She was the owner/operator of the Kennedy
Greenhouse in Naples, a member of the Naples Garden Club, Daughters of the
Republic of Texas, Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of the
First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Choice Leach
and Robert William Kennedy; a daughter, Paula K. Leach; and two brothers, W. E.
Key, Jr., and George C. Key. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law,
Brenda and Dudley Thomas of Pittsburg, and Rebecca and Ronnie Terrell of Denton;

93, of Naples, died Thursday of last week at the David Granberry Memorial
Hospital in Naples after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were at 2 pm,
Saturday, at the First Baptist Church of Daingerfield, with the Rev. Norman
Crisp, and the Rev. Virgil Fielden officiating. Burial was in the Daingerfield
Cemetery. Mrs. Key was born Nov. 19, 1889, at Daingerfield. She was a member of
the First Baptist Church, and a native of Daingerfield and Morris County.
Survivors include two sons, W. E. Key, Jr, and George Key, both of Daingerfield;
one daughter, Marguerite Kennedy of Naples; eight grandchildren, 14 great

MCLAIN, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Friday, February 16, 2007,
in El Paso, TX at the age of 94. She was born October 8, 1912, in Hickman, KY.
She was a teacher for fifty years with the last six years at Bel Air High School
in El Paso, TX. She was past president of Ysleta Retired School Employees
Association and Region XIX Retired Teachers Association. She was a member of
Delta Kappa Gamma, Older El Pasoans Hall of Fame, and the El Paso Retiree
Cabinet. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E McLain. She is
survived by her daughter, Nancy McLain Evans; son-in-law, Stephen Evans; and two

Roy A. Nail, 75, of Daingerfield were Sunday, January 28, 2001 at the First
United Methodist Church with Brother Norman Miller, Rev. Scott Darby, and Rev.
David McKay officiating. Mr. Nail was born July 10, 1925 in Wills Point. He
died Friday, January 26, 2001 in Longview. He married Joyce Old on June 23,
1950. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a veteran of the
United States Navy and served during World War II. In 1947 he attended the
Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. In 1949 he and his father, Robert,
established the Nail-Haggard Funeral Home. He had a long record of community
service. He served as member of the board of stewards of the First United
Methodist Church, city mayor from 1960 to 1978 continued to serve as councilman
from 1980 to 1983, and served as city judge and city representative on the North
Texas Municipal Water District. He served on the Board of Texas Funeral
Directors Association, was president of the East Texas Funeral Directors
Association, served as director for Funeral Services, Inc. and was chosen
Funeral Director of the Your for East Texas and the state of Texas in 1991. He
enjoyed raising polled Hereford cattle and was a member of the American Polled
Hereford Association, member of the Daingerfield Lions Club and Oasis Masonic
Lodge, member and past president of Beaver Brook Country Club, and announced the
Daingerfield Tigers football games for many years. Survivors include his wife,
Joyce Nail of Daingerfield; two sons and daughters-in-law Bryant and Kim Nail of
Dallas and Roy J. and Mary Nail of Daingerfield; two sisters Bobbie Harkrider of
Daingerfield and Polly Thomas of Orange; four grandchildren Connor Nail of
Dallas, Kyle, Brent and Rebecca nail, all of Daingerfield. Burial was in

Perkisons Jewelry in 1953, served as mayor pro-tem, served for several years as
a Daingerfield city councilman, was named Daingerfield Citizen of the Year in
1983, was past president of the Chamber of Commerce, was instrumental in
building restoration of downtown Daingerfield, a member and past president of
several other civic organizations and member of the city planning and zoning
committee. Survivors include his wife, Thelma Perkison of Daingerfield; son and
daughter-in-law, William K. and Pat Perkison of Belton; daughter and son-in-law,
Betty Dawn Perkison Weir and Tim Weir of Daingerfield; three grandsons, Brett
Perkison of Houston, Brannon Perkison of Dallas and Bryan Griffin of Portland,

Daingerfield Cemetery. Mrs. Poole was born January 24, 1959, in Dallas. She
was a member of the Forrest Park Baptist Church in Farmington Hills, MI. She
graduated from Friendship Academy High School in Shreveport, LA Tech University
in Ruston, LA, and received her masters degree in piano performance from
Northeast LA State University in Monroe, LA. Survivors include her husband,
Mark Poole of Daingerfield; two sons, Robert Poole and Aaron Poole, both of
Daingerfield; her parents, Ray and Ruby Walker of Daingerfield; one sister,

Pioneer
Citizen Passes Away January 12, 1933
J. W. Rivers,
aged 82 years, pioneer citizen of Morris County, died at his home in
Daingerfield on Wednesday January 8, at 8 o'clock a.m. following an illness of
several weeks duration. Mr. Rivers had spent most of his life in this county,
and had many friends who were deeply grieved to learn of his death. He had been
unusually active for one of his age up until his late illness.
Mr. Rivers was
an honest, upright, Christian gentleman, and a man whose integrity and
uprightness was never questioned, and his word could always be depended upon.
He joined the Baptist church early in life and was a faithful member until the
end came, always taking an active stand for those things that he thought best
for the welfare of his community and church.
Deceased was
born in Wilkinson County, GA., September 3, 1851. He was married in 1873 to
Miss Lizzie Key, and to this union four children were born, three of whom
survive. His wife died in 1902, and in 1904 he was married to Mrs. Anna Rivers,
and to this union two children were born, both surviving.
The funeral
services were held at the Baptist church in Daingerfield last Thursday morning
at 10 o'clock under the direction of the pastor, Rev. R. E. Streetman, after
which the body was conveyed to the local cemetery where interment took place.
Surviving
relatives are his wife and five children as follows: N. L. Rivers of Pittsburg,
Stafford Rivers of Roby, Mrs. Estella Moore of Dallas, and Paul and Branon
Rivers of Daingerfield. Also a brother Oscar Rivers of Omaha and two sisters,
Mrs. Mollie Parham of Mercedes and Mrs. Annie Durst of Paris, and a
stepdaughter, Mrs. L. C. McDaniel of Fort Worth, also 11 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Our beloved mother and
grandmother, Winnie Gee, went to be with our Lord on Monday, Dec. 22. Services
were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at First United Methodist Church in
Daingerfield with the Rev. Jeff Stull and Lay Speaker Marcie McGill officiating.
Interment was at the Daingerfield Cemetery under the direction of Nail Haggard
Funeral Home. Winnie Gee was born Dec. 6, 1924, in Wills Point, to Hester and
Claudia McNorton. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 47
years, Vincent Shadid all of Daingerfield. After graduation from Sherman High
School, she attended Draughon�s Business School in Dallas. She then returned to
Sherman to work at a law office and later, an insurance company. She moved to
Daingerfield in 1956, where she and her family joined the First United Methodist
Church. While a member, Winnie was very active in the Beacon Sunday School Class
and United Methodist Women. She also served as secretary of children�s ministry,
a member of the Administrative Board, Chairperson of Missions, and a member of
the choir for many years. Winnie was responsible for beginning the Chrismon Tree
ministry at her church in the 1970s, and continued it to the present day with
her family. She volunteered in the Ladies Auxiliary at Hospital in the Pines and
later became a Nurses� Aide at Pinecrest Nursing home and Hospital in the Pines.
Winnie loved her work and always lifted her patients� spirits with her cheerful
personality. After retirement, Winnie baked and decorated cakes for her family
and the public. Winnie served her community in many capacities, volunteering as
a Den Mother for Boy Scouts of America, a Bluebird leader and Camp Fire Leader
for girls, and a member of the P.T.A., which gave her a Lifetime Membership for
her years of service. Those left to cherish her memory are son and
daughter-in-law, Micheal Vincent Shadid and wife Felicia of Seagoville, Texas;
son, David Hester Shadid of Daingerfield; daughter and son-in-law, Claudia Leigh
McGill and Johnny McGill of Daingerfield; grandchildren, Brent McGill of Dallas;
Dr. Jennifer McGill of Jackson, Tennessee; Marcie McGill of Dallas; and Destiny
and Yancy Fitzwilliam of Seagoville, Texas; one sister, Margie Marie Leitzel of
McAlisterville, Pa.; several nieces and nephews and a host of loving friends.

Taylor was born September 4, 1912 in Morris County. She was a Baptist and the
owner of a beauty shop. Survivors include two brothers, Homer McGraw of
Texarkana and Lester Hill of San Antonio; three sisters, Jimmie Mae Harris of
Omaha, Lanissia Wormley of Amarillo, and Helen Smith of Dallas; and a number of

Services for Mary Helene Parsley Thigpen Taylor, 90, formerly of Naples, were
May 16, 2009, at the Omaha Methodist Church. Mrs. Taylor was born July 27,
1918, in Harvey, Arkansas, to Grady and Ila Monroe. She died May 13, 2009. She
had a exciting 90 plus years of life and love. She met and married Harold
Parsley in Waldon, Arkansas. They moved to Northeast Texas where they began a
successful insurance and real estate business. They develped land and built
homes. She was the Morris County Treasurer for 16 years. She moved to Conway,
Arkansas, in 2004, and lived in College Square Independent Living to be close to
BIll and Michelle, and her granddaughters, Rachel and Elizabeth. Her passion
was her love for others and her engaging smile she had for everyone. We pray we
live our lives as abundantly and joyously as she. She was preceded in death by
husbands, Harold Parsley in 1977, Thomas Thigpen in 1996, and Ed Taylor in 2002;
and one brother, John Monroe. Survivors include sons, Bill Parsley and wife,
Michelle of Conway, and Harold Parsley and wife, Kay of Rockdale; seven
grandchildren, Mary Alice Parsley, Kathryne Parsley Roddam, John Parsley, Lee
Parsley, Billy Mack Parsley, Rachel Parsley and Elizabeth Parsley; nine
great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a niece, Judy Pitts; nephews,
John Phillip, Steve Monroe, and Robert and Ron Parsley; stepchildren, Lee Taylor
and DeAnn Cook; cousin, LIllie Jean Arnett and a host of cousins throughout
Arkansas and Oklahoma. We want to thank Verena Moix, her adopted sister and

2008, at First Baptist Church of Daingerfield, with the Rev. Norman Crisp and
the Rev. Tim Wade officiating. Mrs. Terrell was born December 19, 1934, in
Dallas. She died May 23, 2008, in Daingerfield. She was a homemaker and a
member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, David Terrell of
Daingerfield; two daughters, Lois Terrell of The Woodlands, TX, and Carolyn
Freeman of garland, TX; two sons, David Terrell of Daingerfield, and Joe Terrell
of Lone Star; six sisters, Patsy Bohannon of The Woodlands, Sue Grandi of
Mesquite, Nancy Johnson of Parker, CO, Alice Wright of Tyler, Karen Hiett of

Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. David White and Rev. Donald Edward

Saturday, February 17, 2001 in Daingerfield. She was retired from Paul Pewitt
ISD and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Survivors include one son
Dusty Tittle; one daughter-in-law Brenda Tittle, both of Daingerfield; one
brother Buddy Glover of New York, New York; four sisters Mattie Dona Shaid of
Dallas, Maurine Kinnon of Daingerfield, Billie Hodges of Amarillo and Becky
Jones of Atlanta, GA; her mother-in-law Edna B TIttle of Daingerfield; six
grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband

YOUNG, EARL

services for Earl Herman Young, 87, of Naples will be Monday, July 23, at 2:30
pm, at the Daingerfield Cemetery in Daingerfield, TX, with the Rev. Tommy Weems
officiating. Mr. Young was born March 26, 1920, the third child of Thomas
Richard and Chloe Herman Young, in Commerce, TX. He died Sunday, July 15, 2007,
at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, TX. He attended high school and East
Texas State Teacher�s College in Commerce, where he met and married Quida Nell
McNatt, the daughter of Walter Willis and Lanta Inez McNatt, who were pioneers
in the movie theater business in the northeast Texas area. During World War II
he joined the US Army Air Corps and served as a B-17 crew member stationed at
March Field, CA. He attended Texas Technological College in Lubbock, TX, for
two years while in the Army Air Corps cadet program. After an honorable
discharge from the military, he and his wife, Nell, owned and operated a movie
theater in Maud, TX, where he also worked at nearby Red River Army Depot. In
1954, he moved his family to Naples, TX, when he became a shift foreman at the
Lone Star Steel plant, and his wife, Nell, became a teacher at Pewitt High
School. He also owned and operated a water well service in East Texas for
several years. In 1956, Herman, as he was known to family and friends, began
what became his life-long profession of foreign service.
His foreign
service with both private industry and the US State Department included
assignments in India, Indonesia, western portions of Africa, Thailand, South
View Nam, and Laos. He was appointed the Director of Public Works for Laos in
1967. His duties in that position included the design and construction of
roads, bridges, and public water systems throughout Laos. Those projects had an
important impact in preserving diplomatic relations between the United State and
the non-communist citizens of Laos. His responsibilities in Laos also included
the construction of support facilities for Air America and the US Special Forces
during the Viet Nam era. In 1973, he became one of the last Americans to leave
Laos as the Viet Nam war was nearing an end. He was awarded the Viet Nam
Service Medal with oak leaf clusters and received numerous commendations for his
foreign service and innovative cost-saving programs. His career in government
service ended with his retirement in 1963 at Red River Army Depot, where he was
a project cost estimator. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife,
and one brother, Thomas F. Young of Commerce, TX. Survivors include two
children, Thomas Mack Young and wife, Pamela Nugent Young, of Spring, TX; and
Carol Young Haggard and husband, Harry Haggard of Gladewater, TX; four
grandchildren, Katherine Cherise and husband, Todd Harbour, of Frisco, TX,
Thomas M Young Jr. and wife, Kimberly, of Spring, TX, Cary and wife Carolina
Haggard of New York City, and Kevin Haggard of New York City; six
great-grandchildren Hailey Taylor and Trevor Harbour, and Tristyn, Aubrey, and
Avery Young; one sister, Mary Dot Adams, and numerous nieces and nephews plus
friends and acquaintances of the 87 years. Public visitation with the family
is scheduled from 12:30 to 2 pm, Monday, July 23, at Harrison Funeral Home in

Nell McNatt
Young, 83, of Naples, died Thursday, November 12, 1998, in a Longview hospital
following a brief illness. Funeral services were at 2 pm, Sunday, November 15,
at the First Baptist Church of Naples, with the Rev. Joe Dan Perkins and the
Rev. Earl Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Daingerfield Cemetery under the
direction of Alexander Funeral Home of Naples. Mrs. Young was born August 28,
1915, in Richland Springs. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Naples where she taught Sunday school classes for many years. She was a retired
school teacher, having taught at Paul H. Pewitt School and several years
overseas, where her husband, Herman, worked in Thailand and Laos. Following her
retirement from Pewitt Schools, she taught in the GED program at Daingerfield
for six years. Mrs. Young was a graduate of East Texas State Teachers College
but had attended New Mexico University, Lamar at Beaumont and Baylor University
at Waco. She traveled extensively and visited every state in the USA including
Hawaii and Alaska, and also approximately 30 countries overseas. She was a
charter member of the Jonquil Garden Club of Naples, a member of Delta Kappa
Gamma, Hudson Genealogy Society, Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Daughters
of the American Revolution, and the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors
include her husband, Herman Young of Naples; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas M
and Pam Young of Spring, Texas; a daughter and son-in-aw, Carol and Harry
Haggard of Gladewater; four grandchildren, Cary Haggard and Kevin Haggard of
Gladewater, Katherine Cherise Harbour and husband, Todd, of Houston, and Ty
Young of Spring; two great-grandsons, Taylor and Trevor Harbour of Houston, and
one great-granddaughter, Hailey Harbour of Houston. Serving as pallbearers were
Buddy May, Buddy, Blue, Cliff Wyninegar, Charles Smith, Gerald Hampton and Ben
