ORDER AUTHORIZING COUNTY JUDGE TO SECURE NEW CELLS IN
JAIL, ETC.
On this the 30th day of January A. D. 1920, came on to be heard and considered the proposition of securing new cells in jail for the confinement of women prisoners and lunatics and also to take up with architect the proposition of enlarging the vault in County Clerk’s Office if same can be successfully done, and upon motion of Foster seconded by Akin that the County Judge be authorized to take up the above proposition and report same to the March Term of Court. Motion being put to a vote declared carried, all members present voting “Yes”.
It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by the court that the County Judge be and he is hereby authorized to take up said above named propositions and report same to the March Term of Court.
BIDS FOR WIRING COURT HOUSE
AND JAIL.
On this the 8th day of March A. D. 1920, came on to be heard and considered, bids filed herein covering the electric wiring and fixtures on, of simple, durable and appropriate fixtures for this work and to give the most light for the least consumption of electricity, and all wiring and fixtures are guaranteed for one year against any defect, and it appearing to the Court that the Logan Electric Company and the DeKalb Power and Light Company, have each filed bids as per advertisement heretofore made by the County Judge in accordance with law, and it further appearing to the Court that the DeKalb Power and Light Company is the lowest and best bid therefore, and upon motion of Commissioner J. E. Elliott and duly seconded by Commissioner O. D. Akin that the contract be awarded to the DeKalb Power and Light Company of DeKalb, Texas, at and for the sum of Seven hundred, Sixty-five Dollars according the following specifications, and said motion being placed to a vote was declared carried, all members present voting “Yes”.
SPECIFICATIONS
All workmanship and material will be the very best. All wiring to be concealed where possible. Complete system to be according to rules and regulations of the Fire Insurance underwriters.
Court House:
First Floor: to have electric switch cabinet located in corrider. Circuit wires to enter cabinet in iron conduit. Corridors to be wired for 5 outlets, one switch. Five fixtures, cut No. 3 are to be installed on these outlets, each 60 watt Mazda lamps.
County Clerk’s Office:
To be wired for center on center switch, one three light fixture, cut No. 2 to be installed with 50 watt Mazda lamps. One extension cord with lamp guard to be furnished for use in the vault.
Other Offices:
10 drop cords with 75 watt Mazda maps, are to be installed.
All wiring in this floor to be concealed in floor above. Switches to be mounted near the wall to be equipped with pull.
Second Floor, Court Room:
To be wired with three outlets, each equipped with fixtures, cut No. 1 with 150 Watt Mazda maps. One switch arranged to control each Court room.
District Clerk’s Office: One three light fixture, cut No. 2.
Five other rooms to be equipped with drop cords, 50 watt lamps.
Jail:
To be wired with lights as follows:
Wiring to be concealed where possible, otherwise, to be open work to be run in conduit where subject to mechanical machinery or in reach of any person.
Second Floor: To be wired for 5 drops, hung high out of reach, operated by switch.
First Floor to be wired for 5 drops, five fixtures, outlets, 7 switches, one 3 light fixture, Cut No. 5 to be furnished and installed for living room, with 25 watt lamps. One 3 light fixture, cut No. 6, to be furnished and installed for parlor, with 25 watt Mazda lamps. 2 eight inch balls, cut No. 4 to be furnished and installed, with 40 watt Mazda lamps.
Hall: One light fixture, cut No. 7, with 25 watt Mazda lamps.
A permanent line wire to run from New Boston to the Bowie County Court House and Jail to connect with the power wire of said DeKalb Power and Light Company and to be operated as long as the County of Bowie desires service.
It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by the Court that the work to be done and performed by the DeKalb Power and Light Company under this order shall be performed in accordance with the plans and specifications as above set forth and in accordance with a contract to be executed by the said DeKalb Power and Light Company and for the County by the County Judge, and under the supervision of the County Judge of said Bowie County, and it is so ordered.
CONTRACT TO BUILD TWO ROOMS
AND RE-SET COURT YARD FENCE AND PAINT SAME AND RE-SET COURT HOUSE STEPS ON WEST
AND NORTH SIDE OF BUILDING.
This day came on to be heard and considered the application or contract of R. R. Mitchell to build two rooms on the lower floor of the Bowie County Court House, one room to be built in the North Hall and one room to built in the South Hall, and the North and West Court House steps to be taken up and rebuilt and the Court House yard fence to be straightened, anchored and painted, according to plans and specifications; and it appearing to the Court that said bid being the lowest and best bid offered for work at and for the price of $775.00, said work to be done in first class workman style, with the lumber to be used to be of first class in the building of said rooms, and upon made by P. C. Murrell, Commissioner and duly seconded by J. E. Elliott, Commissioner, that said contract be awarded to the said R. R. Mitchell at and for the sum of $775.00, said motion being placed to vote, all members present voting yes, said motion was declared carried, with the understanding that said work to be commenced at once upon the following plans and specifications:
GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
These specifications are intended to embrace all of the labor and material necessary for the erection and completion of all the repairs on the Bowie Co. Court house in the following manner: north hall to have two windows in the North Opening and old doors to be removed and stored for future use, South end of North Hall to be partitioned to ceiling with widows on weights whereby they may be raised or lowered for ventilation.
SOUTH HALL
Is to be partitioned eight feed and 3 X 7 door to be in center of same hinged and locked.
North and West Stemps to be taken up and reset in cement mortar; Court Yard Fence is to belined and straightened up and anchor braces to be set in concrete on a standard mixture. Painting: All new wood work to be painted 3 coats to match old paint and fence to have one coat of graphite paint.
It is further ordered that upon completion of the above contracted work same to be approved by the Commissioners’ Court.
ORDER AWARDING CONTRACT TO DO
CERTAIN PLUMING WORK, COURT HOUSE.
On this the 19th day of April, 1920, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the proposition of the contract to have certain plumbing work done in the Court House as follows: One low tank closet combination and one Lavatory in the ladies rest room and to move and install one closet and urinal in the front part of the Grand Jury room and also one lavatory in same room; and it appearing to the Court that said bid of the said V. T. Hannon being the lowest and best bid offered under said contract at and for the price of $425.00, said work to be done in first class workman style and durability, said material and fixtures to be of first class, and upon motion of J. E. Elliott, Commissioner and duly seconded by P. C. Murrell, Commissioner, that said motion being placed to a vote was declared carried, with the understanding that said work shall be commenced at once and pushed to completion upon the following plans and specifications.
“To the Hon. County Judge and Com. Court of Bowie Co. Tex:
I hereby agree to furnish and install in lower hallway of Bowie Co. Court house at Boston, Tex. 1 low tank closet combination; 1 lavatory and move 1 urinal, 1 lavatory; 1 closet now in building and install in Grand Jury room and furnish all other material and labor to finish complete the five fixtures as specified above for the sum of $425.00.”
It is therefore ordered, adjudged and decreed by the Court that the contract for doing and performing the plumbing work as aforesaid be and the same is hereby awarded to the said V. T. Hannon at and for the sum of $425.00 based upon the above plans and specifications, and upon the completion of said work, same shall be approved and received by the County Judge of said Bowie County.
ORDER AWARDING CONTRACT TO

On this the 26th day of April A. D. 1920 came on to be heard and considered the application and bid of R. R. Mitchell to build two closets or toilets rooms and other repairs on the lower floors of the Bowie County Court House, according to plans and specifications hereinafter set out; and it appearing to the Court that said bid being the lowest and best secure bid offered for said work at and for the price of Two Hundred, Seventy-Seven ($277.00), said work to be done and performed in first class workman style, with all material to be used to be of first class in the repair and building of said two closets or toilet rooms and other work as set forth in said plans and specifications, and upon motion of P. C. Murrell, Commissioner and duly seconded by J. E. Elliott, Commissioner that said contract be awarded to the said R. R. Mitchell at and for the sum of Two-Hundred, Seventy-seven ($277.00) Dollars, said motion being placed to a vote, all members present voting yes, said motion was declared carried, with the understanding that said work to be commenced at once and prosecuted to a finish, upon the following plans and specifications:
South doors to be removed and three windows placed in opening formerly occupied by doors mentioned above; one closet to be built in south-east corner of ladies rest-room and same to be constructed of wall board and one door to be placed in closet where-ever directed by Judge Lytal, dimensions of closet to be about six feet by seven feet.
One closet to be built in room known as Grand Jury Room and same to be constructed of same material as one first mentioned; one opening cut through brick wall connecting junk room with County Superintendent’s Office and same to be cased and fitted with a #1 door and same opening to have heavy wood lential to support brick work above opening; all wood work and wall board to have 3 coats paint to match old colors in Court House. It is further ordered that upon completion of the above constructed work, same to be approved and accepted by the Commissioners’ Court.
RESOLUTION OF RESPECT AND
CONDOLENCE.
Whereas it has been made known to the Commissioners’ Court of Bowie County, Texas, now in session that the death Angel has visited the home of Mr. J. W. McAnulty, former Commissioner of Precinct No. Two of this County, and taken from him his beloved wife and companion, therefore be it:
Resolved by this Court we feel deeply grieved at the death of Mrs. J. W. McAnulty, and that we teader to him our sympathy and condolence, and be it further:
Resolved that the Court adjourn for the day, in respect, so that the Court can attend the funeral, and that a page of the Minutes of the Commissioners’ Court be and the same is hereby set aside for this resolution, and that a copy be sent to J. W. McAnulty by the Clerk of this Court.
ORDER AUTHORIZING TRADING OLD
WAGON FOR BRIDGE LUMBER
On this the 11th day of January A. D. 1921, came on to be heard the application of D. R. Lester, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3, Bowie County, Texas, for an order authorizing him to trade old wagon, the property of Bowie County, Texas, for bridge lumber, and said application coming on to be heard, and it appearing to the Court that it would be to the best advantage of the County that said trade be made. It is the order of the Court that D. R. Lester be and he is hereby authorized to trade said wagon at and for 2000 feet of bridge lumber, same to be accepted by him.
ORDER RE-INSTATING PHONES IN
COURT HOUSE AND JAIL.
On this day came on to be heard the application of the County Official of Bowie County, Texas, requesting the Commissioners Court to make an order re-instating the phones in the offices of the County Officials at the Court House, at Boston, Texas, same to paid for by the County, and the Court, having considered said application is of the opinion that same should be granted.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the phones now in use by the County Officials, at their offices at the Courthouse at Boston, Texas, be and the same will hereafter be paid for by the County, and the Clerk of this Court will be authorized to place bill therefore on the claim docket of this Court to be passed upon and allowed by said Court.
ORDER APPOINTING CATTLE
INSPECTORS
On this the 16th day of February A. D. 1921, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the matter of employing C. H. Myrick, M. W. Richardson, Ed Arnold, R. W. Phillips and Joe Thomas, as Inspectors of Cattle for the present year, and the Court, having considered the application of said parties is of the opinion that said above named parties should be appointed Inspectors of Cattle for the present year, beginning on March 15th, 1921, at a salary of $100.00 per month.
It is therefore the order of the Court that C. H. Myrick, W. C. Mitchell, H. W. Richardson, Ed Arnold, R. W. Phillips and Joe Thomas, be and they are hereby appointed Inspectors of Cattle, in and for Bowie County, Texas, on and after March 15th, 1921, at a salary of $100.00 per mont, payable monthly, until the further order of this Court.
ORDER REMOVING DOG HOUSE,
COURT HOUSE YARD.
On this day came on to be heard and considered by the Court the advisability of having removed from the Court House Yard what is known as the Dog House, and upon motion of P. C. Murrell, Commissioner Precinct No. Two, seconded by Joe Telford, Commissioner Precinct No. Four, that same be removed and said motion being put to a vote was carried, all members present voting yes.
It is therefore the order, judgment and decree of the Court that said dog house be removed from the Court House Yard of Bowie County, and it is so ordered.
On this day came on to be heard and considered by the Court the matter of permitting stock to be kept in the Court House yard, and upon motion of D. R. Lester, Commissioner Precinct No. Three, and duly seconded by P. C. Murrell, Commissioner Precinct No. Two, that all stock be kept out of said Court House Yard from and after this date was put to a vote and said motion was carried, all members present voting in favor of said motion.
It is therefore the order of the Court that all stock be kept out of the Court House Yard, at Boston, Texas, for and after this date.
APPLICATION FOR STATE RANGERS
On this the 12th day of July A. D. 1921 came on to be considered by the Court the matter of making application to the State of Texas for two Rangers for Bowie County, Texas, to be used in the matter of the enforcement of the Tick Eradication Law, and upon motion of D. R. Lester, Commissioner Precinct No. Three, duly seconded by P. C. Murrell, Commissioner Precinct No. Two, that Bowie County make application for 2 State Rangers, was put to a vote and said motion was declared carried, all members of the Court voting in favor of same.

ORDER AUTHORIZING COUNTY
AUDITOR TO BUY ICE FOR COURT ROOMS.
On this the 12th day of July 1921, came on to be considered by the Court, the matter of providing ice for the Court Rooms during the remainder of the summer, and the Court, having considered said matter, is of the opinion that ice should be furnished in each of the Court Rooms during the remainder of the summer for the benefit of the public in attendance on court.
It is therefore the order of the Court that ice be furnished in each of the Court Rooms during the remainder of the summer, and the County Auditor is hereby authorized and directed to buy ice for use in said Court Rooms during the remainder of the summer.
ORDER AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF
2 BATH TUBS FOR CO. JAIL
On this the 13th day of September A. D. 1921, came on to be considered by the Court the matter of purchasing bath tubs for the County Jail at Boston, Texas, and upon motion of J. K. Chenault, Commissioner of Precinct No. One, duly seconded by P. C. Purrell, Commissioner of Precinct No. Two, that the County install 2 bat tubs and sink in Jail and also pad sell for the use of insane persons confined therein, and that County Auditor be authorized to purchase same, to be paid for out of the Court House and Jail Repair Fund, and said motion having been put to a vote was declared carried, all members of the court being present and voting in favor of said motion.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized to have the cell used for the confinement of the insane properly padded, and to purchase for the use and benefit of the County Jail at Boston, Texas, two bath tubs and sinks, and that same be paid for out of the Court House and Jail Repair fund, and it is so ordered by the Court.

On this the 13th day of September A. D. 1921, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the matter of buying furniture for the Ladies Rest Room at the Court House, in Boston, Texas, and filing cases for the offices of the County Auditor, County Clerk, and County Judge, and upon motion of D. R. Lester, Commissioner of Precinct No. 3, duly seconded by P. C. Murrell, Commissioner of Precinct No. Two, that the County Auditor of Bowie County, Texas, be authorized and directed to buy furniture for the Ladies Rest Room, Chairs for the Court House, and filing cases for County Auditor, County Clerk, and County Judge, and said motion having been put to a vote was declared carried, all members of the Court voting in favor of said motion.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the County Auditor of Bowie County, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized and directed to buy the necessary furniture for the Ladies Rest Room at the Court House in Boston, Texas, also the necessary chairs for the Court House, and filing cases for the County Auditor’s office, the County Clerk’s Office and the County Judge’s Office, and it is ordered by the Court.
ORDER DISCHARGING STATE
RANGER
On this the 15th day of November A. D. 1921, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the matter of whether or not the services of Sate Ranger, M. N. Koonman, was further needed in the matter of the enforcement of the Tick Eradication Laws in and for Bowie County, and the court, after considering the matter, was of the opinion that his services were not longer needed, and that he could be discharged, and upon motion of Joe Telford, Commissioner Precinct No. Four, duly seconded by D. R. Lester, Commissioner Precinct No. Three, that State Ranger be discharged, and said motion having been put to a vote was declared carried, all members of the Court present voting in favor of said motion. It is therefore the order of the Court that State Ranger, M. N. Koonman be discharged from further service, with the thanks of the Court for services rendered.
RESOLUTION
Upon motion of J. K. Chenault, Commissioner Precinct No. One, duly seconded by D. R. Lester, Commissioner Precinct No. Three, the following resolution was put to a vote and carried unanimously, as follows, to-wit:
Whereas, M. N. Koonman, State Ranger, has been with Bowie County rendering the services in the tick eradication work for the past three months, and;
Whereas, the said M. N. Koonman has in the opinion of the Court, been of great assistance in said work and has conducted his work in a thorough and gentlemanly manner, commendable to himself, the County and the Adjutant General’s Department of the State.
Therefore, be it resolved by the Commissioners Court of Bowie County, Texas, that a work of thanks be and is hereby extended to the said M. N. Kooman and the Adjutant General’s Department of Texas, for his services.
It is ordered that this resolution be spread upon the Minutes of this Court, and that said M. N. Koonman be furnished with a copy of same.
ORDER AUTHORIZING COUNTY
AUDITOR TO EMPLOY SOME ONE TO TOP TREES.
On this the 9th day of January A. D. 1922, came on to be considered by the Court the matter of having the trees in the Court House Yard, at Boston, Texas, topped, and motion was made by P. C. Murrell, Commissioner Precinct No. Two, duly seconded by Joe Telford, Commissioner Precinct No. Four, that the County Auditor be authorized to employ some one to top said trees, and said motion having been put to a vote and declared carried, all members of the Court voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the County Auditor, be and he is hereby authorized to employ some one to Top the trees in the Court House yard at Boston, Texas, and it is so ordered.
ORDER AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF
MOTOR CYCLE.
On this the 14th day of March A. D. 1922, came on to be considered by the Court the matter of providing Harley Davidson, Special Motor Cycle Officer, Precinct No. One, Bowie County, with a Motor Cycle for the use and benefit of Highway Precinct No. One, and upon motion of Chenault, duly seconded by Murrell, that Bowie County rent harley Davidson Motor Cycle for Precinct One, and the County Clerk issue scrip against Road and Bridge Fund precinct no. One, for $100 payable to the highway Department in payment for same, and said motion having been put to a vote was declared carried, all members of the Court voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order of the Court that Bowie County rent for the use and benefit of Motor Cycle Officer of Precinct No. One, a Motor Cylce, for use in said Precinct No. One, and that the County Clerk be and he is hereby authorized to issue warrant in favor of the Highway Department, for the sum of $100 in payment for same, and it is so ordered by the Court.
ORDER FOR DIPPING VAT AT
WHATLEY
On this the 10th day of April A. D. 1922, came on to be heard by the Court the petition of A. R. Case and others for a Dipping Vat at Whaley, and upon motion of Murrell duly seconded by Chenault that the County furnish cement and lumber for forms for the building of said Dipping Vat, and said motion having been put to a vote was declared carried, all members of the Court voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order of the Court that Bowie County furnish cement and lumber for building a Dipping Vat at Whaley, and it is so ordered by the Court.
On this the 10th day of April A. D. 1922, came on to be heard by the Court the petition of A. Warrington for Dipping Vat south of Maud, and upon motion of P. C. Murrell, duly seconded by D. R. Lester, that Bowie County furnish cement for the building of a Dipping Vat south of Maud, and that the County Auditor be authorized to buy said cement and deliver same to A. Warrington, was put to a vote and declared carried, all members of the Court present voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the County Auditor of Bowie County, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized to buy and deliver to A. Warrington cement to be used in building a Dipping Vat south of Maud, Texas, and it is so ordered by the Court.
ORDER AUTHORIZING COUNTY

On this the 10th day of April A. D. 1922, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the application of C. W. Corder for Dipping Vat, and upon motion of P. C. Murrell, duly seconded by Joe Telford, that Bowie County furnish cement for said Dipping Vat, and that the County Auditor be authorized to purchase same, was put to a vote and declared carried, all members of the Court voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order of the Court that said application be granted, and that the County Auditor of Bowie County, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized to buy and furnish cement for the erection of the dipping vat prayed for, and it is so ordered by the Court.
ORDER TO KEEP OUT
On this the 11th day of April A. D. 1922, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the matter of permitting stock of any kind to be kept in the Court House yeard, and it appearing to the Court that stock are still permitted to run at large in said yard since the order of this court was made and entered, on March 15th, 1921. It is the order of this Court that all parties who are permitting stock of any kind to run at large in said yard be notified to keep same out, and it is the order of the Court that no person be permitted to turn stock of any kind in said yard from and after this date, and it is so ordered by the Court.

On this the 8th day of May A. D. 1922, at a regular term of the Commissioners Court of Bowie County, Texas, came on to be heard and considered by the Court, the matter of purchasing a one-horse mower for the purpose of mowing the Court House yard, and upon motion of P. C. Murrell, Commissioner Precinct No. Two, duly seconded by J. K. Chenault, Commissioner Precinct No. One, that County Auditor be authorized to purchase a one-horse lawn mower, and the necessary harness, for the use of the Court House Yard, was put to a vote and declared carried, all members of the Court voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the County Auditor be, and he is hereby authorized to purchase a one horse mower, and all necessary harness, fro the use and benefit of the Court House yard at Boston, Texas, and it is so ordered by the Court.

On this the 15th day of August A. D. 1922, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the matter of purchasing a typewriter for the use and benefit of the Tax Assessors Office, and a motion having been made by Joe Telford, duly seconded by P. C. Murrell, that the County Auditor be authorized to purchase same, and said motion having been placed to a vote was declared carried, all members of the Court being present and voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the County Auditor be and he is hereby authorized to purchase a typewriter for the use and benefit of the Tax Assessors office of said County, and it is so ordered by the Court.
ORDER AUTHORIZING SALE OF
WAGON
On this the 15th day of August A. D. 1922, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the application of Joe Telford, Commissioner Precinct No. 4, Bowie County, for an order of the Court authorizing him to sell a wagon belonging to Bowie County, to W. M. Moseley, at and for the sum of $50.00 and that he be allowed take same in lumber, and said matter having been considered by the Court, it is the order, judgment and decree of the Court that Joe Telford, Commissioner of Precinct No. Four, Bowie County, Texas, be and he is hereby authorized to sell a wagon belonging to Bowie County, to W. M. Moseley, at and for the sum of $50.00, and that he be authorized to take lumber in payment of amount.
ORDER ALLOWING SIGNS TO BE
ERECTED ON HIGHWAYS
On this the 9th day of October A. D. 1922, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the application of I. A. Kenney, R. L. Eastland and E. M. Self to be allowed to erect signs on Highways in Bowie County, Texas, and a motion having been made and duly seconded, that said application be granted, was declared carried, all members of the Court present voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order, judgment and decree of the Court that the said I. A. Kenney, R. L. Eastland and E. M. Self be and they are hereby allowed to erect signs on Highways in Bowie County, Texas, and it is so ordered.
ORDER TO KEEP JURY ROOM
LOCKED.
On this the 8th day of January A. D. 1923, came on to be considered by the Court the proposition of keeping the Jury Room in the Court House and a neat and sanitary condition and for the use and benefit of jurors only, and the Court after considering the matter it was ordered by the Court that the proper authorities see that the Jury Room is used for no other purpose except for the jurors rendering jury service in the Courts, and that the beds in the Jury Room be not used by any one except those serving in the courts as such jurors and it was the further order of the Court that the Sheriff of Bowie County, be and he is hereby ordered to keep the Jury Rooms locked except when same is in use by jurors in service, and it is so ordered by the Court.

D. 1923, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the proposition of employing a Special Traffic Officer for Bowie County, and the Court after considering the matter was of the opinion that it was to the interest of Bowie County to have a Special Traffic Officer, and a motion having been made by R. A. Bartlett, Commissioner Precinct No. Two, duly seconded by Joe Telford, Commissioner Precinct No. Four, that a Special Traffic Officer be employed at a salary of $150.00 per month, and that M. C. Young be offered the place, was put to a vote and declared carried, all members of the Court present voting in favor of same.
It is therefore the order, judgment and decree of the Court, that a Special Traffic Officer be employed by the County, at a salary of $150.00 per month, and that the place be offered to M. C. Young, and it is so ordered by the Court.
ORDER AUTHORIZING COUNTY
AUDITOR TO COLLECT FOR WATER USED
On this the 23rd day of April A. D. 1923, came on to be heard and considered by the Court the matter of collected for water used by other parties connected with the County Water works, and a motion was made by R. A. Bartlett, duly seconded by J. R. Shipp, that F. A. King, County Auditor of Bowie County, Texas be authorized to collect for water furnished other people connected with the County Water Works, and said motion was put to a vote and declared carried.
It is therefore the order of the Court that the County Auditor of Bowie County, Texas, be and he is hereby ordered to collect water rent from all parties connected with the County Water Works of Bowie County, Texas, and it is so ordered by the Court.
ORDER TO DISCONNECT WATER
FROM GRIFFIN HOTEL
On this day came on to be considered by the Court the matter of collected water rent for water furnished to Griffin Hotel, and the Court having considered the matter, a motion was made by R. A. Bartlett, duly seconded by D. R. Lester, that Riston Fussell be directed to disconnect Griffin House from County Water Works, said dis-connection to be made at Street, and said motion having been put to a vote was declared carried.
It is therefore the order of the Court that Riston Fussell be and he is hereby authorized and directed to disconnect the County Water Works from the Griffin Hotel, said disconnection to be made in the street and it is so ordered by the Court.
In the Commissioners Court of Bowie County, Texas, at a regular term thereof, on this the 10th day of March, 1924, came on for consideration the petition of J. S. Post and 249 others, freeholders ob Bowie County, Texas, for an election to be ordered for the entire County of Bowie, to determine whether or not horses, mules, jacks, jennets and cattle shall be permitted to run at large in said Bowie County, Texas, and it appearing to the Court that said petition is in due and regular form and contains the signatures of more than 100 freeholders of Bowie County, Texas, who are qualified voters in said Bowie County, Texas, and that said petition is signed by not less than 12 freeholders who are qualified voters from each Justice Precinct of said Bowie County, Texas, and that this is the next regular meeting of the Commissioners Court after the filing of said petition.
It is therefore ordered by the Court that and election be held throughout said Bowie County, Texas, at each and every voting box in said Bowie County, Texas, and at the regular voting places in the several election precincts of Bowie County, to determine whether or not horses, mules, jacks, jennets and cattle shall be permitted to run at large in said Bowie County, Texas, and the managers of general elections shall, and they and each of them are hereby directed to hold said election, said election shall be held and conducted and the returns thereof made according to regulations for holding general elections in so far as applicable, provided, however, that only resident freeholders of Bowie County, Texas, who are qualified voters under the laws of this State shall be allowed to vote at said election.
Said election is ordered to be held on the 19th day of April, 1924, and all votes shall be ballot only and all voters desiring to prevent horses, mules, jacks, jennets and cattle from running at large shall have printed or written their ballots the words “FOR THE STOCK LAW” and those in favor of allowing such animals to run at large shall have printed or written upon their ballots the words “AGAINST THE STOCK LAW”.
The officers holding said election shall make due return of same within ten days from the date of said election to the County Judge of this County who shall tabulate and count said returns and ascertain the result thereof as the law directs.
