14 June 1883, J. T. Morton gave a land deed to the Methodist Episcopal Church South for the sum of 25 dollars for the purpose of a church & public burying ground, containing 2 1/2 to 3 acres of land.  Such deed being recorded in the Miller County Court House by William H. Kelly, Circuit Clerk and Ex-Officio Recorder: in Volume K. page 465. 

John T. Morton was my great-grandfather. According to information from the past the first person buried there was my great-grandmother Sarah Morton buried in 1883. The first cedar tree planted there was planted by my grandfather Samuel James Morton at the time of her death.  Info submitted by Gail Hacker daughter of Jesse James Morton, Son of Samuel J. From Texarkana, AR go east on US Hwy 82 until you get to Arkansas State Road 237 and turn right or south and go about 1.3 miles to Arkansas State Road 196 then turn Left or east and go 3.5 miles to Miller County Road 17 then turn right or south and go for about 2 miles to the intersection with Miller County Road 266 and bear to the left for about 1 more mile to the Church and Cemetery which will be on the left side of the road.  Directions provided by Betty Sharp.
