what the sound of the bus means and come to eat out of the hands of those on the tour.

Kerr County Pioneer, Charles A. Schreiner, bought the 550,000 acre Y O Ranch in 1880.   The name of the ranch "Y O" was based on the brand used for their cattle.   It was the headquarters for the Schreiner Cattle Company.     Live Oak Ranch, now part of the Y O, was the sheep operations headquarters.   In later years the ranch became a major site for exotic wildlife from Africa and other areas of the world with the purpose of preserving endangered species and establish breeding programs for them.   Daily 1/2 day tours are conducted in certain areas of the ranch not used for ranching and hunting.   Visitors can view herds of antelope, zebra, buffalo, longhorn cattle, giraffes, wildebeests, black buck and many other forms of exotic wildlife.      A cowboy lunch is part of the 1/2 day tour, served at the "Chuck Wagon",  with space for visitors to eat in rustic comfort.   The ranch is located on Texas State Highway 41 about 15 miles west of Mountain Home, in Kerr County.
