Enon_Cemetery.jpg (860434 bytes)  Along roadside on FM 111, just west of Edna, TX in Jackson County.  You will see the brown "Historical Marker 1 mile ahead" sign from both directions on FM 111 before reaching the cemetery.   Fenced/Gated.  Take your cowboy boots - there are cows and a pasture to walk through before you get to the cemetery.  Soon to be photographed.

    ENON CEMETERY

In 1856 the Rev. Joseph I. Loudermild (1816-1880) came to Jackson County and organized Enon Baptist Church - the first church of that faith in the county.  He was pastor from that time until his death, and was buried here.  A five-acre site was given by John and Clarissa Andrews on Oct. 23, 1858, for the church and cemetery.  The first interment (1862) was Isaac J. Sheppard.  There are noew 65 graves and cemetery is still open for burials.  Site of the church is partially enclosed by cemetery fence.  (1972)
