(Obituary - Bob Matthews passed away Dec. 1, 1909. He was born in Hopkins County on 
Nov. 11, 1849, and was one of those who laid the foundation to our old town of Tarrant. 
Having lived the greater part of his life in and around that old place. His first 
helpmate in life was Miss Alice Nelson, who many years ago passed on to her home in 
that great beyond. Later in life he took as a second wife, Miss Meda Fields, who not
 many years since also passed on, the two to welcome his coming to that home of
