My husband’s grandmother was Lula Bailey, born 1864. I
have 2 pictures, one is attached. It is a picture of “Lula and her
parents”. The other picture I have is of the “father” in the picture
and is noted on the back as R.K. Bailey. Since there are still Baileys
in
Itasca , maybe someone recognizes the “parents” in the picture.
Lula was married 3 times and lived to be 103.
Thanks for your help----

Mrs G. D. Robey (written on back of picture), Gentleman unknown.
Amanda J. Robey was the wife of George D. Robey. Her daughter M. Etta Robey, b. May 1878, married Edward T. (Eddie) Read, son of Washington Read and Mary Elnora Christian. She would have also been the Mrs. G. D. Robey in the other picture. The gentleman would probably be George D. Robey (1839-bef 1900) Identified by Florence H. King [email protected] Contributed by Wm Hitchcock (Shreveport, LA, found in bottom of box of old picture frames he bought at a garage sale) One picture had Hillsboro, Tx. printed on back. |

Mary Elnora Christian Read (Grandma Read) (Hillsboro, Tx. printed on back)
Evidently a descendant of Washington and Mary Elnora Christian Read and of George D. and Amanda J. Robey was the originally owner of these photos. Their son Edward Read married M. Etta Robey. They had three children: Mary Kathleen Read (b. Jan 1900), George Read (b. abt 1909), and Charles Read (b. abt 1913). Some of the other pictures may have been of these. Identified by Florence H. King [email protected] Contributed by Wm Hitchcock (Shreveport, LA, found in bottom of box of old picture frames he bought at a garage sale) |

I believe that is Mary Elnora Christian Read--my grt-grandmother. She was born in 1839 in Tippah Co., Miss. and died in 1920 in Hillsboro. I am attaching the only other photo we have of her as a young woman, but I see a strong resemblance. Her mother is on the right side of the attached photo...she on the left. My grandfather, Mark Read, is the little boy to her right. Do you have any other Read photos? John Holman |
