Thomas Wells Watson, Jr., of Haskell, died
Friday. He was 55.
The funeral will be held at the First Baptist
Church in Haskell on Monday, March 19 at 2 p.m.
with the Rev. Jim McCurley officiating and Rev.
David White eulogy. Burial will be at Willow
Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family
Funeral Homes of Haskell.
Donations to the National Kidney Foundation are
requested in lieu of flowers. He received a kidney transplant in October of
1993.
A lifelong resident, he was born May 19, 1956 in
Haskell to Tom and Mary Watson. He graduated
from Haskell High School in 1974 and
attended the University of Texas at Arlington. He
returned to Haskell in 1983 and was employed by
Modern Way Food Store for 30 years.
Tommy was an accomplished painter and enjoyed
playing Canasta with friends every Thursday. He
was the secretary of the Haskell chapter of the
Lions Club and a member of the First Baptist
Church of Haskell. He was an avid fan of
the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, and
supporter of local high school athletics.
He is survived by two sisters, Elouise Perry and
husband John of Arlington and Christyne Green of
Haskell; two brothers, Sam Watson and wife Jo
Ann of Haskell and George Watson and wife Andrea
of Lubbock; nephews Chris Perry and wife Suzy of
St. Louis, Mo. and Brent Watson and Crystal
Newman of Haskell; nieces Stephanie Green of
Abilene, Michelle Green of Burleson and Jill
Hammack and husband Chad of Colorado Springs,
Co; several great nieces and nephews and one
great-great nephew.
