Funeral
services

Howard's
life
will be
held
10:00
a.m.
Friday
morning,
November
4, 2011
at
Trinity
Baptist
Church
with Dr.
Robert
Wingrove
officiating.
Interment
will
follow
in
Rockdale
Cemetery
in
Haskell
County
under
the
direction
of
Kinney-Underwood
Funeral
Home in
Stamford.
The
family
will
receive
visitors
from 6-7
p.m.
Thursday
evening,
November
3, 2011
at the
funeral
home.
Howard
Buster
Thompson
was born
May 3,
1928 in
Stamford,
Texas,
the son
of the
late
Howard
Buster
and
Adele (Rellihan)
Thompson.
Howard
was a
1946
graduate
of
Lueders
High
School
and
attended
Hardin
Simmons
University
on a
football
scholarship.
Howard
married
Juanel
Bolding
on
August
29, 1950
in
Avoca.
In 1991,
Howard
retired
as a
District
Salesman
for B.J.
Services
and
moved
from
Brownfield
back to
his
hometown
of
Stamford.
Juanel
passed
away on
May 7,
1998.
Howard
married
Ida Hise
on
September
29, 2001
at Lake
Stamford,
and she
passed
away on
December
7, 2001.
On March
17,
2003,
Howard
and
Maxine
(Young)
Thompson
were
united
in
marriage
in
Abilene.
Howard
was
active
in the
community,
serving
as a
Deacon
and past
Sunday
School
Director
for
Trinity
Baptist
Church,
and
served
on the
Rockdale
Cemetery
Board.
Howard
and
Maxine
were
very
active
in their
church
and
delivered
meals on
wheels
for the
Stamford
V.I.P.
Center.
Howard
was a
veteran
of the
United
States
Navy
and Navy
Reserve.
Among
his
favorite
hobbies,
Howard
loved to
hunt and
fish,
and was
an avid
fan of
the
Stamford
Bulldogs,
where
you
could
always
find him
Friday
nights.
Preceding
him in
death
were his
parents;
his
grandmother,
Margaret
Rellihan;
his
spouses;
an aunt,
Annie
(Kitty)
Shaw;
and a
cousin,
Patsy
Astin.
Howard
is
lovingly
survived
by his
wife,
Maxine
Thompson
of
Stamford;
daughters,
Diane
and
husband
Mike
Moore of
Lubbock,
Madeline
and
husband
Larry
Pickett
of
Brownfield;
son,
Dale
Thompson
and wife
Kim of
Yukon,
Oklahoma;
brothers,
Randy
Thompson
of
Houston,
Jerry
Reves of
Sweetwater;
sister,
Rhonda
K.
Thompson
of
Dallas;
9
grandchildren,
10 great
grandchildren;
and
numerous
nieces,
nephews,
and
cousins.
