Glenna Faye Toliver Rhoads
Abilene, TX
Glenna Faye Toliver Rhoads, age 81, died Sunday,
February 12, 2012. She was born to the
late David Owen and Mamie Toliver on Sept. 28,
1930, in Woodson, Tx. She graduated from Paint
Creek High School and went to work as a
telephone operator in Haskell after graduation.
She married the late Charles Raymond Rhoads in
1955. They lived together in Haskell, Levelland,
and Abilene, TX .
Glenna was an active member of First Baptist
Abilene where she taught first and third grade
Sunday School for close to 50 years. She loved
teaching the Bible to young children and
especially loved when they returned as adults
with children of their own. Glenna loved
quilting, embroidery and making Raggedy Ann
dolls for children and the elderly in nursing
homes. She touched the lives of so many through
her service to the Lord. She was also active
with the Bereavement Committee for close to 10
years and performed other volunteer work at
church.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Raymond, in 2001; brothers, Carroll, Cecil
(Pete), Bobby, Tommy, and Jim; sister-in-law,
Mary; and brother-in-law, Bob Dulaney.
Glenna is survived by three daughters and their
families: Debra Miller and Dr Joe Miller of
Dripping Springs, TX; Deanna Rhoads of
Albuquerque, NM; Dana Marsh and Jim Marsh of
Porter, TX; grandchildren Marc Miller of Austin,
TX and Michael Jessica Miller Currie and Dr.
Kristopher Currie of Monterrey, MX. She is also
survived by sisters Betty Dulaney of Haskell,
Linda Higgins and husband Robert "Brown" of
Missouri City; brother, Doug and wife Carolyn of
Canton; sisters-in-law, Judy Toliver of
Breckenridge, TX, Sonja Toliver of Merkel, TX,
Quilla Toliver of Weatherford, TX and Nelda
Toliver of Stafford, TX along with many nieces,
nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 pm to 9
pm Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Elliott-Hamil
Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, Texas
79606. Funeral services will be held Friday,
February 17, 2012 at 11 AM at the Elliott-Hamil
Chapel of Faith with interment following at
Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
