"Tick" Elmore
Rule
E.L. "Tick" Elmore, 86, of Rule, Texas passed
away in Haskell on Tuesday, February 21, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday,
February 25, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in
Rule with Rev. Mike Herrington and Rev. Russell
Stanley officiating. Burial will be at Willow
Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Smith
Family Funeral Homes.
A visitation is scheduled for Friday evening,
February 24 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the
funeral home in Rule.
"Tick" was born December 16, 1925, in Paint
Creek to James Frank and Rosie Lee (Terrell)
Elmore. He married Venice Brewer on December 21,
1945 in Haskell. He and Venice have lived in
Rule for 49 years during of which, "Tick" served
as a deacon at the First Baptist Church for 43
years, served on the Rule Gin Board, Rule School
Board, and the Haskell Hospital Board. "Tick" is
the past recipient of the comeback farmer of the
year award.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank
and Rosie Elmore; brothers, Chester, Otis, J.W.,
and Doyle Elmore.
"Tick" is survived by his dear wife of 66 years,
Venice Brewer Elmore of Rule; 2 daughters,
Elaine Gomillion and husband Wade of Rule, Paula
Martin and husband Walter of Lake Dallas; son,
Eddie Elmore of Leonard, Texas; grandchildren,
Justin Holcomb and wife Alma of San Antonio,
Texas, Venece and husband Chris Perpiczka of
Anna, Texas, Nicole and husband Randy Spalding
of Tuxedo, Stephanie and husband Ken Scruggs of
Hendersonville, TN, Elise Martin of San
Augustine and Elizabeth and husband Wade Griffin
of Fox, OK; great grandchildren, Emma Iliff,
Rylea and Colten Spalding, Gavin and Gage
Scruggs, and Addison Perepiczka.
If desired, memorials may be given in Mr.
Elmore's name to Hendrick Hospice, 1682 Hickory
Street Abilene, TX 79601.
