Funeral services for Emma Jean Cloud will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Rule with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Interment will take place immediately following at the Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Saturday evening, September 29, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Rule.

Emma Jean Lisle Cloud, age 91, was born November 10, 1920, and passed from this life to her heavenly home on September 27, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas.

She was born in Benjamin, Texas to parents James Albert Lisle and Ola Mae Pike Lisle. The oldest of four children, Emma Jean's siblings are James A. Lisle, Jr., June Lisle White, and Helen Lisle Pinkard, who has preceded her in death.

Emma Jean was married to Joe B. Cloud in Rule, Texas on November 24, 1945. Her husband, Joe B., passed away on August 22, 2000.

She is survived by her son, Joe Harold Cloud of Rule; daughter, Caron Thornbury and husband Dan of Lubbock; grandson, Capt. Scott Thornbury serving in the U.S. Army and stationed in Afghanistan, and his wife Rose of Manhattan, Kansas; a granddaughter, Angela Thornbury of Plano, Texas; sister-in-law, Jo Ruth Lisle of Rule; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Emma Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rule and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by her loving family.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff and all employees of the Phoenix House in Lubbock and to Odyssey Hospice for the excellent care that was provided to our dear one during her illness.
