John Royce Briggs, 81, passed away at his residence in Haskell, Texas on Friday, February 17, 2012. Services will be held at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2012, in Ada, OK. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, also in Ada. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes in Haskell, Texas.

John Royce was born June 14, 1930, in Ada, OK to Edgar Auod and Violet Charity (Parker) Briggs. John grew up and lived in Ada until moving to Haskell 34 years ago. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Coalgate, OK.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Violet Briggs; and his first wife, Wanda Sue (Sharum) Briggs.

John is survived by his wife, Sylvia (Rodriguez) Briggs of Haskell; 3 sons, Dan Royce Briggs of Wichita Falls, TX, Michael Timothy Briggs of Pawhuska, OK, and Robert Dale Briggs of Burbank, OK; one daughter, Janis Louise Briggs of Weinert, TX; 11 grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; 2 brothers, Phillip Duane Briggs of Ada, OK, and Trent Parker Briggs also of Ada; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
