Chester Jones and son, Jesse Jones, started their business, Jones and Son,
in 1923. The first
day of ownership saw a tragic incident when the building, just purchased,
burned to the ground before the
new owners could purchase insurance. Fellow businessmen,
F. G. Alexander, John Couch and Burl Cox provided
help in the form of extended notes and work space until the new owners could
get back on their feet.
Soon it grew into three distinct businesses: Sheet Metal Works,
Blacksmith Shop and Filling station.
