In addition to the colorful pep and marching band that is a familiar unit to all football fans in the community, Gladewater High School boasts of a concert band of eighty members.  This organization devotes its time to concert and heavier types of music and ranks high in this field, winning first honors in the Class A division of the East Texas Band Contest sponsored by the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce.  The concert band is still young, but is hows promise of developing into a truly creditable organization, which will offer the opportunity to play standard concert music to every child in school who elects bands as a part of his educational program.
